44 days to go! Any suggestions for teeth whitening and self tanning products? I am an idiot with self tanners. I get all streaky. I definiately need something idiot proof. I was thinking of just going for a spray tan. I hear Creast whitening strips works wonders.

I recommend crest whitening, but I think other people might have had different opinions. They worked WONDERFULLY on me. As for tan, I'd say don't do self tanner. The photographers on this website have said that it makes you look orange for photos.

Ya, Crest Whitestrips work pretty well. As for the tanning... ya, the spray on stuff I've heard is a pretty big no-no before the wedding day. It's true, I have also heard some photographers on this forum (I forget which thread) say that it can come out really orange in pictures. Why not hit the tanning beds? I know they're not considered the healthiest way to go about doing things, but go to your nearest tanning salon and really talk to the employee there about risks and how to use the tanning beds in the safest way possible. I did this before my last vacation, because I too am INCREDIBLY white - it's depressing! lol. And because of this, I burn really easy and decided to get a base tan so I wouldn't burn while on vacation. So I went there and talked to the lady (who was also the owner - which helped, I'm sure) and found out the safest way possible for me. You don't have to overdo it, just get a nice base tan that will bring up your colour a bit, and not so much that it looks fake.

I am planning to get my teeth professionally whitened, only b/c my teeth are so yellow I could put the sun out of business. But my sister uses Crest Whitening strips and they worked really well for her, so you should def give them a try. Also, I wouldn't do the tanning either, only b/c a lot of the photogs said you will look orange. But if you are very pale then maybe heed Courtney's advice and get a base coat so that at least you won't burn.

I've heard nothing but good things about the crest strip so I will definately get those. Thanks for the heads up on the spray tan. I might give the tanning beds another go. I tend to turn beige at best. lol. I's not easy being the whitest woman in america.

Yes, crest whitestrips work very well, also some girls have mentioned in other threads that while doing the white strips and afterwards try to avoid dark colored sodas, coffee, anything that could stain your teeth, because your teeth will soak these things up easier while doing the strips and afterwards because they become more porous (if I'm remembering correctly, please correct me if I'm wrong!) I never knew this either, so I was glad someone mentioned it.

Second, I would try the tanning beds and I know it sounds pointless, but start out just doing like 5 minutes, do that a couple times then increase to 7, 9, etc.... until you work yourself up to 15 or 20 and by that time you will see some color change, it just may take a little while. I would probably start soon, since you know it may take awhile to see a difference.

I have used the Crest Whitestrips and have seen some results. If you can, I would even suggest doing them in the moring and at night, you will see better results. If your teeth get too sensitive, then cut back. Also, I just bought Colgate Simply White toothpaste and feel that it works in addition to the whitestrips pretty well. It is 2x stronger than you "average" whitening toothpaste.

Good luck with the color and whitening!

Ok, just my two cents here.

First, I would absolutely avoid the tanning beds...for obvious health reasons and for skincare issues. Exposure to sunlight can mess with your skin's balance, meaning the sun does wonderful things in the short term, like clear up skin, etc, but eventually your skin will start producing more oil to compensate for the dryness. I would be concerned that my face would freak out and break out after a month or so!

I suggest using Jergens Natural Glow moisturizer. It's a lotion with subtle tanner that takes a while to actually become apparent. It's the most natural looking tanner I have ever used, and my friends & I all use it and swear by it. It gives you a healthy looking tan, not orange at all. They make three levels (Light, Medium, Dark) so you can apply with confidence knowing you're not going to overdo it initially. I had a friend use it for a few weeks before her wedding and she was perfectly sun-kissed, just healthy looking. Plus, it's cheaper than a tanning membership! The catch is you have to be diligent about using it, since it is such a small dose, you have to use it regularly (like once a day for four days).

As for teeth, I use Go Smile, although it's pricier than any of the strips, I like the convenience of just brushing it on and forgetting about it. No need to wait for the strips to finish, and none of that uncomfortableness that happens when I use the strips.

Just my thoughts!

Wow, I had no idea that self tanner would make you look orange in pics. I use Jergens Natural Glow and I love it, but I guess I haven't seen a pic of me since i started using it.

And i agree with the crest white strips! they are wonderous. And I think they have new ones where you see results faster and you leave them on for less time.

I use Jergen's Natural Glow too and I love it!!! I'm naturally super pale with freckles and the Light works wonders for me - it actually gives me a tan! Just make sure to spread it out evenly or else it may leave slightly orange spots. I use it every other day and it doesn't get orange. The best part is you can go ahead and try it out and if you don't like it after a week or two it only cost you 6 or 7 bucks and it'll fade away. smile159.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
