What kind of reception are you having? I e-mailed the WC and just asked for a general idea for outdoor cocktails and some dancing. She recommended the Spa Terrace... but I don't know if that looks out at the ocean or not. I am expecting about 25 people.

Our final number is 29..... we decided to do the cocktail hour and then dinner at one of the restaurants. She sent me pictures of the terraces. The spa terrace is covered, by the pool. The pic looked like it had flouresent lighting which I didn't like. We picked the other terrace... i'll have to look and see what the name is..... I have it at work. The one we picked over looks the pool and ocean. I'm thinking we will have the wedding, then cocktail hour starts while we take pictures. Once we're done with pics, we'll head over to the the cocktail hour where we'll have our first dance and appetizers/drinks. Then we'll head to one of the restaurants for dinner. That detail hasn't been worked out yet. We were going to do the private dinner but I really can't see spending 1200 for a fajita buffet!!

Well right now I am just using the free package. I thought it may be less to just order the picture packages I want and bridesmaids bouquets rather than pay for a package... I need to review this plan again it has been awhile.

I like the sound of your terrace better. Have you decided what you are going to do for music?

Also I thought the resort didn't do dinner reservations for more than 10 people.

I need to get busy. I am really anxious to have the reception planned!

My WC is Paolo. Is she yours too?

Hey everyone. I am debating between the Sun Palace or Excellence Playa Mujeres for a wedding for 10/10. I have received quite a bit of info from both resorts and I am really bothered by the Sun Palace not allowing outside photographers. I think it will prevent me from booking there but otherwise I love it.

Does anyone have info or examples from their photographer. They sent me some photos but that doesn't help with any specific photographer. I hope I can get around the policy somehow.

Palace resorts allow outside photographers as long as they travel from the states and stay at the resort with you. We were able to find a photographer that was willing to only charge us travel costs. This worked out to being less that what we would've paid for an upgraded package through the resort.

Hey! We had the wedding of our dreams at the Sun Palace on Sat... we are currently on our honeymoon :) All I can say is Paola is AMAZING!!!!! Any brides getting married there have NOTHING to worry about!!! Every little detail was perfect and ALL of my guests had an amazing weekend. We ended up having our cocktail hour at the spa terrace and it does look over the pool and ocean. The set up was beautiful!!!! From the original pics I received of the terrace, I wasn't impressed but it was perfect when we got there. I'll be posting a review when we get back!!

Hi Ladies!

I'm getting married at the Sun Palace Feb. 20, 2010, but all of our guests are staying at the moon palace and so are we. (we had to do this because there were no times available at the moon palace the day we chose to get married)

Ok, so it's 75 days away from our wedding and my wedding planner is not emailing me back and when she does she doesn't answer any of my questions! I'm freaking! I was not a fan of any of the flower options (but the funny thing is that none of the options even matched the other packages)

We have unlimited private functions so we'll be having a reception with about 55 people, I'm basically freaking out because the clock is ticking and I don't want to end up hating our ceremony and reception decor. So help! Any advice? any pics you can share? I noticed that you all had problems with your coordinators also!

Thank you in advance!

Congratulations BTW!!! I hope you had an amazing time!
We had our DREAM wedding at the Sun Palace.... don't worry about flowers. All you need to do is tell her what you are looking for and they'll work with you to make an arrangement that works with your colors :) What package are you going with??

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
