$250 for DJ, too good to be true?

Recommended Posts

We are pretty much booked at dreams la romana in the dominican republic and the price for the DJ for 4 hours is $250 total!?! i even checked with the WC and that includes all their equipment. that seems really low to me, it is b/c the area or that the resort just opened. the wedding packages are lower than the other dreams resorts in mexico. we were planning originally to bring down a ipod and rent speakers or buy a bose docking station but the price of the DJ is cheaper or the same price. has anyone heard anything about the DJ at dreams la romana? should i be worried or just go for it?

Wow..thats super cheap! I'm getting married at a Dreams Puerto Aventuras in Mexico and the DJ is $190/hr. $250 is a steal! I say go for it as long as you aren't picky about music selection. Maybe ask the WC if you can provide the DJ with a list of songs in advance, or if you can bring some CDs of songs you like.

I'm also getting married at the DLR and am at the music planning stage. We also couldn't believe how cheap the DJ is. I was going back and forth with booking it as well but in the end decided to go with it. Tiara said we were able to make the song lists and she would pass them along to the DJ. We will also be meeting with him when we get there. As long as we can pick the music we are happy. This will save so much time finding all of our songs, downloading them, finding a good Ipod dock to bring, ect. Also the DJ can introduce people and dances.

Did you decide to go ahead and book it or are you still waiting?

Hmmm...I'm halfway through downloading all the music for our reception and haven't purchased the Bose system yet... might be something to consider.

It would be nice to have someone else deal with the music situation -- as long as he plays the music in the EXACT order I have it listed! lol

I think I've mentioned this before, but my co-worker's DJ played the wrong first dance song at her wedding!!! Eek!

We havent booked him yet as we are not sure how many ppl are coming, right now we are at 14 ppl total if we get 10 more ppl we will most likely book him to save me the stress and time of getting everything together. but who know this might be something the FI would actually enjoy doing since he did it for his sister's wedding.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
