How long do you have to be in Cuba before your wedding?

OK so this is starting to get really annoying. The WC at the resort said that it had to be 3 business days because the notary didn't work on weekends. (The Wednesday is already taken so I would have to have the Thursday.) I emailed the Canadian Cuban consulate and asked if it was 3 days in Cuba or 3 business days, they wrote back saying that I had to be in Cuba 72 hours before getting married. That's it. What should I do? The WC seems so sure it has to be business days and said she couldn't make an exception because those were the rules. I told her I'd take the Thursday. It's not terrible, but that leaves us only Friday after the wedding because we leave on Sat.

I really don't think you should tell your WC about talking to the consulate. Seriously you do not want to piss her off, your whole wedding is in her hands, you want to be nothing but nice to her. I say just get married on the Thursday and it will be perfect and you still have a whole day after the wedding before you leave, it sounds great to me.

This is just my opinion, but your WC can either make or break your day, so why would you want to chance making her madhuh.gif?

Our wedding was on the 18th and our flight home was on the 20th, so we only had one day after our wedding as well to be newlyweds at the resort. My DH is a teacher so we were limited to one week on his spring break to get married. It's not ideal, but it still worked out just fine...try not to stress about it!!

Thanks everyone, I confirmed for the Thursday, it is not ideal, but I really don't want to make a fuss about it. You are right, the WC has the whole day in her hands so I don't want to piss her off! I am sure it will be wonderful either way...and I guess getting married earlier in the week has its downsides too. With all our friends & family there we wouldn't get much privacy after the wedding anyway! So I guess that means we will have to go on a honeymoon afterwards! wink.gif

That was my thinking too...we are hoping to go to Europe next summer for our honeymoon...although it's awhile after our wedding, it gives us (mostly me LOL) something to plan and look forward to...

Everything will be great - don't worry!!

Jax - Only 5 days!!!!! :) I'll be thinking of you, and can't wait to hear all about it! :)

Thanks everyone for the advice - I am feeling better about it, I know it will work out fine.

I am also considering myself VERY lucky with everything that those poor Mexico brides are dealing with now! My heart goes out to them.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
