You're welcome to it Norisa23! Best of luck to you as well. I will post after I talk to the CDC again. I just called their 800 number and was on the phone with a very helpful woman for about 15 minutes...calmed my fears tremendously!

Reuters AlertNet - WHO not recommending swine flu travel restrictions
I am getting married in June and must say am a little worried, but this was a HUGE help. I know that most of this is blown into something bigger than it really is.

I also just talked to my TA and they are sending somone down to the RM area until this blows over just to see what is really going on. As of now the state that Tulum is located in has no known cases, there are more cases in the state that I live in (Texas) than there. So this also helped.

All we can do is pray and hope that this will be contained soon.

Read this article about the students in New York who have the swine flu. It suggests there is no connection between the students who went to Cancun for Spring Break and the students who have SF. They interview one of the girls, she has the flu but has not been tested for Swine Flu. It seems the students with Swine Flu, and the students who went to Cancun, are not the same students.

Points to note from the cases in Canada:

-Neither man's illness (the 2 in Alberta) was severe enough that he had to be hospitalized.
              - 3 of the 4 cases in Nova Scotia now have a clean bill of health. The fourth is "recovering nicely and we expect he will be released today."
-"In actual fact, the swine flu may have a death rate that's similar to seasonal influenza."

Just wanted to share the points showing that this is not really any worse than a normal flu.

Well, we are getting married in Nuevo Vallarta on May 16th. We leave on May 11th. Right now, we are very fortunate, as all of our guests are supportive and plan to go if at all possible. We are collecting info, keeping our guests informed, and discussing a possible Plan B. We figure we'll be happy getting married anywhere at any date - we'll just roll with the punches. This is a frustration, but seems small in the overall scope of things, as some people have lost loved ones to this illness. Hopefully with people on alert and by taking proper precautions, it'll work out in time for our ceremony. If not, we'll just deal with it and see what we can do to shift everyone's travel fees to a new location or a new date if necessary.

oh girls I'm soooo sorry to hear how many of you have guests cancelling, especially like you Des when we have 3 months!!! We are coming up w/ a plan B in case travel is restricted, which is definitely a possibility. I am not concerned about the flu, there aren't any cases of it in RM and there are more CONFIRMED cases in the US than Mexico. I am really just afraid that they will restrict travel since they have alread advised against non essential travel. Which I think may really be scaring off our guests that they've advised that! I know this day is just about Joe and I, but we've been legally married for almost a year and at this point its important to us that they are there. We are having a big AHR at home, but we really wanted a laid back bbq, plus its much cheaper that way since we are expecting around 250 to the AHR. So I'm glad I still have months to see how this plays out and I really hope for the best!

Thanks to everyone for all your posts. We are getting married in RM in June and reading the posts and hearing people share their opinions has made me feel better.

My thoughts are with all of you. I am praying this will be in the past before we know it.
