jac, that's interesting. HALF the cases in the entire world are in the U.S. ... funny how we stopped hearing about it once the U.S. took over as the leader in confirmed cases. can't have our summer tourism, trade, economy, etc. effected by this! i like how it was fine when it was just little ol' mexico, who nobody gave a crap about. i wonder how much hush money went to the media, the WHO, and the CDC?

i just found out tuesday night that a friend of mine's son had swine flu. it was before they really knew much about it, and the poor kid (he's about 6 i think) went through hell for about a month ... they were ready to move him to shriner's hospital ... they thought he had leukemia! once it was figured out that he had h1n1 and he was properly treated, he got well quickly and he's fine now, thank god. the family is from gloucester, nj, and none of them had been to mexico or knew anyone who had been.

I'm a health care professional, and ended up with the swine flu in April (RIGHT at the time the whole story hit the media), thanks to a patient who had just returned ill from Mexico! It was confirmed by the lab at the hospital where I work, and several other doctors and nurses also had it. I've had the seasonal flu as well, and I have to say my symptoms with the swine flu were exactly the same but didn't last as long. Well at least I am immune to this strain now :-)

MarieSam, you predicted it! Got raised to level 6 today by WHO...
It'll be fine, like it has been pointed out, it is now everywhere so we're not in any extra danger by travelling to Mexico. Positive thoughts!!! :-)

Hey you girls getting ready to get married. I wish you the best and hope that the swine flu doesn't stop you from having your dream wedding. Mine was meant to be May 15th and we had to reroute the whole thing in a matter of days because it was so in the news at the time and the whole family was freaking out. We did it in the florida keys and it was constant drama throughout but ended up absolutely beautiful. I hope that all of you who had to rearrange plans or headed out had a fabulous wedding like I did and that everyone else continues to have the same!! Congrats and thanks to you all for the support during the chaos!

We were supposed to be married in Mexico May 21st but were rerouted to Cuba. Ended up with a dream wedding, so keep your heads up! Even with changes an amazing wedding is possible. Still amazed at what could be pulled off in a matter of days. Will post a review and pictures under the Cuba forum!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
