Also, thanks to everyone who posted letters they sent to guests about the flu. MarieSam - I definitely used a good portion of it for an email we just sent to guests this weekend - thanks for offering to share it. I didn't even know where to begin when writing it, having yours made a horrible thing easier.

As of right now, we're on, but I'm not sure how many of our 46 guests will be with us. In our letter, I asked our guests a few questions to gauge their current thoughts on the matter (copied below in case any of you want to use it) so that we could make an informed decision as things progress. So far, I've gotten mixed reviews and am quite frustrated with the non-respondents! Sorry, had to vent.
Thanks so much for sharing your note to your guests. My wedding is Nov but already, his mum has shared some concerns with us b'cos in 1918, a flu killed many worldwide. So, my fiance was thinking of writing an email to our guests. THANKS!

FI and I are in Cancun right now. Everything here is perfect. One person with mask at airport & a few workers at airport had them around their necks but not on, weird. They did take temps when leaving airport but didn't say anything or have us fill anything out. There are several kids here as well. No worries ladies it all seems like paradise to me. We haven't gone into city because we just got in yesterday but I'm sure we will & I'll report more when we return. Right now going to eat my breakfast in bed. I heart room service!

Well, it seems like this flu thing is blowing over somewhat and the news media has backed off a bit on their " out of proportion" reporting. Not to say, it's not a scary situation and should be monitored, but I think they went way overboard. It now appears that they can't beat this one anymore, so they're now talking about the "second wave"... what is wrong with these people?

Drtracy, you got it right : this is also paradise to me ! Yesterday night we had dinner and drinks in Playa and nobody is wearing masks or anything. The only weird thing is thinking today is Cinco de Mayo and the streets were pretty empty for a day that important.

Your wedding is gonna be awesome ! I am starting my honeymoon today. I am looking forward for the archeological sites to reopen (normally, tomorrow).

Have fun !!

So great to hear from the brides down in Mexico. Always makes me feel so much better.

Starlitk- thanks for posting that email. We are going to send out a variation of that because we have to make a decision this Friday. If the Coast Guard still will not allow my FI to travel to Mexico, we are going to have to move forward with changing to Punta Cana. So, going to send out an email today to see how many guests would still attend...

Still praying and hoping that by Friday the ban will be lifted and we can just move forward with Mexico. Trying to stay positive.. but it is hard sometimes...

Hello fellow brides!!

I have not been on here for awhile but as soon as I heard about this swine flu thing I have been thinking of you girls...

I just want to let you know that I've been hearing & reading that (of course) it's not as serious as they first announced and that it seems as though the flu

is on a rapid decline especially in Mexico.

This thing was/is over exaggerated!!!

Please don't let this effect the happiest day of your lives!

Lots of love to all of you!

Hi everyone,

I have been snooping around this website for a while but never written much... since this swine flu I have really appreciated reading everyone's threads. It is so nice to hear from other brides who are going through the same thing, since this has definitely been causing me much frustration during a month that should be such a happy time.

We are getting married at Maroma Resort on May 30th and are planning on going ahead with the wedding. We expect to lose some guests but hope that the majority will still come down to celebrate with us.

I work at a hospital in NYC and have spoken to many of the infectious disease doctors and they feel that there is no reason for us to cancel the wedding or move it to another location.

So, good luck to everyone!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
