So we have a confirmed case a couple hours from my house. Its in Northern Idaho in the same town as our lakehouse! Its this poor 60 year old lady. She just returned from a trip to texas sad.gif The good news is since she returned home she's only seen a couple people and has been in her home recovering.

See...just as easy to get SF in Texas as in Mexico! But that is no good for her. Every day there's a new school closing here. Luckily Mexico just downgraded the health alert from red to orange. And Mexico's health secretary says most businesses will reopen Wednesday nationwide...woohoo!

It feels so good to hear that others are not calling off their wedding. I am going to make my final decision tomorrow, but leaning towards keeping things the same. It's been such a headache trying to look for another location without guest paying more money. I am also fed up with calls and e-mails. I just stopped answering my phone. I really can't stress over this anymore. I am ready to party in Cancun!!

I am beginning to get anoyed by my guests and am wondering if anyone will actually show up. We are basically forcing our parents to go. (Just kidding- sort of) :)

If I get another email I don't know how sensitive I can be. I mean people are being nice and all "we DON'T want to stress you out but..." Then stop emailing me!

I am feeling agitated right now but I am happy that we are going because even though I am not feeling happy right now I cannot postpone this any longer. I can't focus and we have already been engaged 15 months. We are done. kwim? Plus I want to get all this wedding swag out of my too small apartment.

Hey LSUangel! Yes, I know how completely ridiculous about the mexican restaurants.

One of my friends is a trauma surgeon and he said he was walking past the "waiting area" at his hospital and he saw a mexican family walk in & this other patient sitting in the waiting area started freaking out and pointing at the family & telling them to put on masks simply b/c they were mexican. He was so disgusted! It's terrible how some people are behaving about this silly flu!

It makes me feel even more strongly about having a wedding in mexico to show my guests who haven't been there before just how wonderful the people and country are!

i agree it was seeming like it would be impossible to move the location and i'm honestly just SO done with it. so we are still proceeding as planned, unless now our stupid flights end up canceled because they are empty (wouldn't that be a b*tch?)! anyway, you have to keep your wedding as planned ... how else are we going to meet up for a drink on the beach? shots.gif

update on MOH: she got her doc to prescribe tamiflu, and he also told her that in light of the fact that there's swine flu now in philadelphia & bucks counties PA (where she lives) she might as well travel to mexico. that's exactly what i was trying to tell her ... thankfully her doc finally backed me up, and she'll listen to him!smile159.gif

i hear ya on this ... we're paying for his grandmother to go and i'm fairly certain she would have canceled if it was on her dime.

That's great! If only every doc had the same outlook...my MOH and dad would be on a plane.

One thing to note, the resort is pretty dead at night. If you want nightlife, head out to the local clubs in Varadero for a great night of dancing. The taxis are cheap and it's safe. We went to about 4 different clubs, one was on the beach which was very cool. Let me know if you have any questions about Varadero, I'd be happy to help.
Thanks!!! You totally made my day. I've never been to Cuba before so any tidbits of advice are great. If you have anymore just PM me, love to hear them!!

Super stressed though with the whole photographer issue. We had such an amazing one booked for Mexico, and now I can't find one. All they have is the resort guy, and I was not happy with the photos at all... If anyone knows of any Cuban photographers please please let me know!

Hey Heidi, Finding a great photographer in Cuba is not easy. I've heard good reviews on Peter VandeMaele, here's his website.

Also, here is recommendation for a local photog,

Have you considering bringing your own photog? Several of the Cuba brides have brought their own from Canada. Good Luck with your search.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
