glad it's coming around for you danielle, the flights working out is huge. you deserve a break. Can't wait to hear about it all when you get back.

Can't believe you future MIL after all you have been through.

As far as employers, some have gotten a e mail as well. Legally I bet they can't make them take a week off. That is where I am losing people because they can't afford to do it.

My Grandpa was just here visiting and I have been looking, but cannot find anything to back this up...but he said that they are doing autopsies on the people that they say have died from this flu in Mexico City and so far only 10 (not sure how many they had done for sure) were confirmed to have died from "Swine flu" and they've been claiming that all these 150ish people have died from it. I think we need to stop watching the news, and relax! I hope your guests will do the same, and their places of employment grab a brain!

From the WHO: WHO | Influenza A(H1N1) - update 10
"Mexico has reported 397 confirmed human cases of infection, including 16 deaths. The higher number of cases from Mexico in the past 48 hours reflects ongoing testing of previously collected specimens. The United States Government has reported 160 laboratory confirmed human cases, including one death."

From Mexico's confirmed cases of A/H1N1 flu rise to 443_English_Xinhua: MEXICO CITY, May 2 (Xinhua) -- "Mexican Health Minister Jose Angel Cordova said on Saturday that until Friday night there have been 1,105 tests to detect the influenza A/H1N1, among which 443 in the country were positive. Out of the positive cases 427 patients are alive, while 16 died. Among the total of the deaths, 12 were women..."

FYI...this means that approximately 38% of people that are suspected of having swine flu (or H1N1 as they want us to call it doh.gif) actually have it! I'm so over this!

BTW...I officially had my first breakdown today. Don't know how I waited this long. Since we're leaving on Wednesday this was the weekend that people were going to cancel if they aren't going. Count today: 18 people have canceled including my dad, my brother (who is a GM), my MOH and 2 other GM. I'm so bummed...

Just found out that Coast Guard is restricting travel to Mexico until further notice. (my fiance is in the coast guard...) So.. our worst case secenario has officially happened..

We also logged onto United.com to see they have announced they will be canceling most of their flights to Mexico through May.. however it won't be reflected online until May 5. So, now the dilemma:

Option 1: wait it out for another week - although the longer we wait the harder it will be to set up something new.

Option 2: change locations to Dom Rep. The Grand Palladium where we were getting married in Mexico also has one in Dom Rep and said they could accommodate our group of 40ppl.. however flights there are more expensive and very long...

Option 3: postpone until December or something.. but there is no guarantee that this will all be over by then...

I am drained and disappointed. If all of our guests could just get refunds on their flights, then I wouldn't feel so bad. Just knowing that everyone would be losing $ makes me feel really bad.

Also, one if my bridesmaids work told her she would have to stay home for a week upon her return.. although not bad cause it would be paid as she can work from home..

hanna I would wait. You have a month so you have time to put together a plan b but also time to see what happens. Our issuue as well was that Joe's little sister (one of my BMs) and his brother (a GM) are marines. I'm farely certain they will lift the military ban by August. But a lot can happen in the next 4 week, almost 5 weeks. And they keep extending their dates that they will change flights. I say wait a week and see what happens before making any drastic decisions.

What day are you leaving? United has allowed the travel waiver for travel through May 31, but have cancelled their flights from DC to Cancun starting May 5th through June 3rd. So if you leave on or before the 3rd on the flight from Dulles to Cancun they are cancelling it and maybe they can do a waiver for you since your flight is cancelled

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
