We are expecting 100 guests. I just got off the phone with my parents and a couple of their friends are nervous about coming now.

Most of our own friends are still planning on coming unless they start canceling flights. As long as our close friends and parents are there that's all we care about.

I am planning on taking TamiFlu with me in case any of my guests come down with the flu. TamiFlu is what they are using in the US to treat the swine flu and any regual flu.

Here is a great article that CNN just posted. Regular flu has killed thousands since January: Regular flu has killed thousands since January - CNN.com

Since January, more than 13,000 have died of complications from seasonal flu
Worldwide annual death from the flu estimated between 250,000 and 500,000

I was relieved and livid after I read the article. The media needs to calm down. It's a good idea to forward this article to anyone that's buying into the swine flu craze.

Crossing my fingers this will all blow over!
I'm with you! All my guests are still happy to come too. We will be fine!

That's great that you aren't worried! I'm sure you'll have a beautiful wedding.
If you wanted to get re-routed so you don't stop in Mexico City, most airlines are allowing passengers to do so at no extra cost.

Gail - Some of our guests are getting that to. Most of them are saying that if they have any signs of the flu not to come in. Some have even got the email saying that the company is recommending them not to travel to Mexico. Some are choosing to listen...some aren't. This is so ridiculous...don't they understand that by now it's just as likely that someone get the SF from a crowded mall in Texas than they are at an airport in Mexico?!?! wtf.gif

People are so ignorant and just get hyped by the media, everyone needs to do research!!! The flu virus kills 36000+ people a year here in USA, the H1N1 virus (swine flu) has only killed one person. You do the math... it is like we are living in the 40's listening to Nazi propaganda.

There are alot of girls experiencing this. I know a few girls have changed their location or rescheduled just because of this. There guests weren't willing to miss a couple extra weeks of work.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
