Deadly swine flu virus in Mexico

Recommended Posts

I've been reading this thread almost everyday, and I must confess that while it has helped with the emptional support, I also feel the negative impact that it has on me, which is making me more anxious. So I want to offer a few words.

First, a few of our very close friends just returned from Mexico yesterday. They tell us what everyone else has been stating: It's the media over-hyping an illness. They have family there in Mexico, and the events happening are from people being sick "for a while" and not knowing what was wrong, and being treated for something else leading them to become even more sick., which was this new flu strained.

Of course, CDC and WHO are not media, but they're reports and exposure is media driven. So to me I have 2-options: Don't listen to the media and negative talk, or listen and continue to read the stress of others and the end result will be me freaking out. I choose the first.

Our wedding is June 13th and we fly out June 10th. We're not cancelling, if all else, it will be cancelled for us, and then a plan B will be put into action. As for now, it's business as usual, although I'm no longer going to pay for anything else related to the wedding until we are confirmed with health clearance.

My heart goes out to all those already negatively impacted. For those of you still in limbo, stay positive, I believe everything happens for a reason, and whether or not it is clear to you now, no doubt the universe is unfolding exactly as it should.

Much Love to You Call.

I'm still waiting to see what is going to happen - some airlines have cancelled flights until the 12th and i'm waiting for ours to be cancelled as once one does it the other will follow suit.

I'm holding out for them to cancel on me otherwise if i change resort i'm going to lose about £3k!! and i can't afford to do that.

So i'm looking everywhere but I think I found one in St Lucia - it's a nightmare trying to sort out tho lol Good thing is FI has finally said he is really gutted because he hadn't realised how excited he was about the whole thing lol

HI-Larious - you girls gotta read this lol....

Get plenty of exercise because exercise helps build your immune system. Walk for at least hour a day, go for a swim, take the stairs instead of the elevator, etc.

Wash your hands often. If you canâ€t wash them, keep a bottle of antibacterial

stuff around. Wear a mask when out in public places and avoid going out in public as much as possible while the swine flu is spreading. Get lots of fresh air. Open windows whenever possible. Get plenty of rest. Try to eliminate as much stress from your life as you can.

OR …. You can take the doctorâ€s office approach. Think about it, when you go

for a shot, what do they do first? Clean your arm with alcohol.. Why? Because

alcohol kills germs. So…… I put on my mask, walk to the liquor store (exercise), I put lime in my Corona (fruit), celery in my Bloody Mary (veggies), drink on the bar patio (fresh air), get drunk, tell jokes, and laugh (eliminate stress) and then pass out (rest). The way I see it, if you keep your alcohol levels up flu germs canâ€t get you!!!!

I know where I'm headed - Happy Hour!

Let's keep the good news coming!

Isla health officials say the islands two suspected cases of swine flu tested NEGATIVE.

They were NOT swine flu. This was reported in todays Por Esto! newspaper. Titulares PorEsto!

I did try to have my doc call in a prescription for me for Tamiflu to bring with...just in case but was told he wouldn't prescribe since the CDC is recommending against it unless you've been diagnosed..might try another doc.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
