are you sure? the requirements for legal weddings in other locations are actually somewhat more lax than those for mexico. it might still be possible for you!

To make matters worse the company I am travelling with has said absolutely NO REFUNDS, just issuing travel vouchers. If the airline doesnt come up with something I am goingto make it my life mission to ensure no one flies with them again.... so frustrated!
I dont blame you at all for never ever wanting ot book with that company again!! that is insane that they wont give refunds...it is not like the border was shut down and they had to stop all flights, they CHOSE to do this and so they should not be allowed to say no refunds...its almost like they are taking this as a huge cash grab as I am quite sure alot of people will just give up and not actually use a travel voucher.....ugh some companies can be so slimy...censored.gif

Good CNN article

Regular flu has killed thousands since January - CNN.com

(CNN) -- There had been no confirmed deaths in the United States related to swine flu as of Tuesday afternoon. But another virus had killed thousands of people since January and is expected to keep killing hundreds of people every week for the rest of the year.

That one? The regular flu.

I'm so sorry desiree. I can't believe he cancelled so far out. Maybe once it blows over he will change his mind. hugs.

This is a frustration, but seems small in the overall scope of things, as some people have lost loved ones to this illness. Hopefully with people on alert and by taking proper precautions, it'll work out in time for our ceremony. If not, we'll just deal with it and see what we can do to shift everyone's travel fees to a new location or a new date if necessary.
Thankfully our guests are being so supportive. I just had my first cry - but I think it's cause I have been stressed and holding everything in and then hearing others weddings cancelled made me cry. We do have to roll with the punches though.

I'll take it! Even though he's not a health expert. I don't care. I needed something positive after catching up on this stuff.

glad i could provide a few laughs. i was really strong until today (i guess because i didn't think there was any way i'd be effected with my wedding still a whole month away), but i kinda unraveled today and needed to laugh badly.
Lisa that made me crack up. My friends were like we'll get a blue mask and it will be your something blue. ha. If I don't laugh, I'll cry.

I keep going back and forth. One minute I'm fine the next I want to cry. Oh well, I think tonight I'll turn off the Internets and settle in for some FI time and concentrate on the joy of the marriage part that comes after all of this. :)

I'm with you Tracy. I sent FI an email telling him we needed to release all this stress. S&M.gif

Our wedding is May 16th @ Dreams!

We are expecting 100 guests. I just got off the phone with my parents and a couple of their friends are nervous about coming now.

Most of our own friends are still planning on coming unless they start canceling flights. As long as our close friends and parents are there that's all we care about.

I am planning on taking TamiFlu with me in case any of my guests come down with the flu. TamiFlu is what they are using in the US to treat the swine flu and any regual flu.

Here is a great article that CNN just posted. Regular flu has killed thousands since January: Regular flu has killed thousands since January - CNN.com

Since January, more than 13,000 have died of complications from seasonal flu

Worldwide annual death from the flu estimated between 250,000 and 500,000

I was relieved and livid after I read the article. The media needs to calm down. It's a good idea to forward this article to anyone that's buying into the swine flu craze.

Crossing my fingers this will all blow over!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
