I’ve had 8 e-mails, 10 phone calls, and 3 text messages all at work!! I’m praying that this is the worst of it and things will start to slow down. I have the worst luck EVER!!

Fox News -- it is said WHO will update facts on their website later today. It's been a breaking newsflash. The current anchor/analyst is making me feel better and saying this is being all blown out of proportion and creating panic, but God I can't help but to worry. When I open Yahoo and the head story is "US advises against travel to Mexico" it makes my heart sink. sad.gif

I just sent out an email to our guests and will post it on here in a sec should anyone want to use it, or at least give you guys some ideas.

*HUGS* to all my fellow Mexico brides -- lots of positive energy and prayers that this will all fizzle out soon and this will all be blown smoke in the coming days.

My wife has been reading the local newspapers in Spanish online, from the Riviera Maya area. There are no confirmed cases there at this time. They tested 22 people with flu symptoms, ruled out 15 cases and 7 are still pending results. They have convened a meeting of government and health officials in the State capitol for 9PM to make decisions on what measures and restrictions they will have for this area. We'll read the papers tomorrow morning and post any new news. We also heard that United is changing tickets to Mexico City to Cancun, which suggests that the Cancun area is still considered safe.

We just got down here this afternoon-as far as we could tell, everything was normal. Business is as usual-saw a wedding this afternoon.
Thank you. This settles me down somewhat. I'm so sad right now too. I'm a May bride and have so been loking forward to this wedding; not just for me but for all my guests too. I'm praying too; fro all Summer brides .

Hi Ladies...I'm throwing my crying towel in. This is such a hard time! I'm really scared and confused about the entire situation. I only have us and two guests so rescheduling is doable if we have to. My heart goes out to those May brides who have many guests to contend with. My heart also goes out to those Mexican families who are struggling with this illness, which seems to be hitting them harder than the US victims.

I am going to sit tight, pray and make a decision by Friday. (Oh yes, did I mention cry? probably more of that too)

The calls are coming in! I was out of town on a girls weekend and didn't really begin to hear about this till today. We have had lots of people call us including one guest coming from Trinidad.

We called our travel agent and he said that we are still pretty far out (6 weeks) and that TYPICALLY if travel gets banned or highly discourage, the travel companies step up and offer a travel voucher or refund. He did stress that this is an optional thing and that the companies do NOT have to do this. Also he said the typical insurance does not cover this.

Is all that consistent with what most of you are hearing? We have guest traveling with Expedia, applevacations, and funjet.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
