Deadly swine flu virus in Mexico

Recommended Posts

The White House is issuing at statement on the Swine Flu momentarily (Fox News is going to broadcast). There has been an outbreak in NYC (a few students just got back from Mexico two weeks ago). In the US there is a total of 19 cases (NY, TX, CA, KS) that have been reported.

I am starting to stress!

I've already contacted our travel agent to see just how much money we'll lose if we have to cancel - I seriously can't believe this is happening after how much work I've put into anything - I know you girls can relate..... I can't blame guests if they don't want to go if they will have to be getting medically tested in the airport and face the possibility of borders being shut down...When the "drug war" thing was all over the news I knew that was absolutely nothing to worry about where we'd be at but this is different - I spent yesterday bawling my eyes out and now today I'm just kinda numb.

Yeah, I am worried about the media as well. I hope it doesn't scare off too many of my guests. I already have people that dropped out because of the stupid Mexican violence. I am so upset. I can't believe all of this is happening. I thought a hurricane would be the most I would have to worry about. Now its violence and swine flu....Great....shots.gif

Sorry Ann for not doing a search before posting on the Cabo thread. I was having a break down. Didn't even think about searching to be honest.

We leave in 2 weeks. Can't get in touch with our wedding coordinator. Have tons of guests telling me they are freaking out asking what I am going to do. I have no idea. I am numb.

Do you have a plan B AlmostSeif? I would put one in place right now just in case. We are planning on still going to Mexico (our wedding isn't for 3 months), but I am trying to get together an alternate plan in case things get worse. I am so sorry. I hope everything turns out okay for you though! hugs to you!

We are working on that now. That is the plan now. We have so much to worry about though. We booked 23 flights...hotel rooms...all on us. We didn't go through a travel agent. All flights are non-refundable. I know, that was stupid. I need to not freak out too much. It will all work out. Just so much to think about. I am stuck to the news and am drinking a beer at noon. HA!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
