Customs in Mexico : an effort to gather the info in one thread !

Recommended Posts

A little update ! They DID open all of our suitcases even though we got a green light... they started to look through them and several times asked us how much thing did cost... also asked FI (that I had briefed), so we always answered to the same question by different persons : 500-600$...

I did not show I was speaking Spanish and I could hear them look through the items saying " this is not expensive". They were clearly looking for expensive stuff. I almost had an issue with the disposable cameras but pointed out they were rolls, not cameras... and it went well, they let us out.

They missed the expensive stuff which was the flowers...

Ok so this makes me a little paranoid... I'll have to go search for receipts now! Hopefully I can find most of them. I have about 20 disposable cameras as well as a few bouquets/bouts. Could the cameras still be a problem if I find the receipt? Maybe I'll just make everyone carry their own flowers through! Still worried about all the other stuff tho

wow-they didn't stop us at all. You can just make receipts up-I did that just in case.

They did stop husband though and I was hysterical laughing-he had planned for a fishing trip and had brought down an electric reel and they questioned him about it

I know you can only bring I think 12 rolls, this is in one of the links above. So if you split them between FI and you you should be fine. Get receipts in case. For me they did not ask for the receipts - they just saw I had inexpensive stuff and went from there. But they looked.

I have to say we had 6 suitcases...

I think some higher force was with us when we arrived in Mexico!!! We made the mistake of all 9 of us going back to back in the same line and NONE of us got a red light. We all got green lights and NONE of our 14 bags (and some where HUGE) got inspected!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
