Don't know how in the world I have missed this thread!

I love wine as well. I drink - wine, water and beer, lol.

I am actually a wine distributor, so I sell wine to restaurants, hotels, clubs, stores, etc. And I recently passed my Introductory Sommelier class ... so in a few more years I *should* be a certified sommelier.

I started out drinking Boones Farm and white zinfandel in college - graduated to Rieslings and Franzia wine-in-a-box. :)

Now, I am a lover of all things wine and appreciate so many different varietals. It's amazing how your palate changes and allows you to enjoy and appreciate different wines over time.

I sell over 4,000 differnt wines ... in all price points ... so I have my favorites in every price range.

The best wine is the wine that you like. It is a totally beautiful and subjective experience. If you like it - then it's a good wine. That's what I tell my customers as well. And I love when I can find them wines that they love that are not expensive.

I think I can officially join this thread! FI got me a wine cooler for my birthday and I LOVE IT! We just joined a wine club too :) We picked the 1 red, 1 white option! I'm trying to stop drinking as much so I can shed some pounds but it's SO hard to give up wine!!!!!

And even better, the owners of our wine club store had a DW at Moon Palace and we talk about it everytime we go in there..........added bonus!

I totally agree with Tami, a co-worker of mine and I had a competition going, every payday (bi-weekly) we'd buy each other a bottle of wine. The wine had to be good (obviously) but furthermore, had to be under $10....

IN CANADA THIS IS NOT SUCH AN EASY TASK. (I am totally jealous of the American girls, while in Florida last year - Publix (grocery store), had my fav under $10/$15 bottles -- for under $6.... and some had COUPONS -- so not fair. oops

I am thrilled to see other's opinions of wines... keep em comin!

I absolutely love wine!! How did I miss this thread??
I love red wine, mostly Shiraz but a chilled white wine is delicious on a warm summer evening.
I have also recently been drinking champange which I am really enjoying!

Does anyone know of any wine clubs in Canada? i'd like to get involved but I haven't had much luck finding one.

Omg I love wine...absolutely my favorite drink! I prefer Red. We have a winery near us here in Indiana and I love their red. It's French Lick Red. I basically have to have a bottle on hand no matter what.

Have you heard they now have this organic wine which is sulfate free?! I need to try that stuff out and see what it's about.
I've heard about that organic wine w/o sulfate but I have not found it anywhere yet. Let me know if it's good!

It's so crazy you mentioned that b/c I went to a wedding over the weekend and they had us do that! The bride had some friends come to the wedding from Europe and one of the guys is Italian and actually makes his own wine. The bottles themselves were beautiful so I'm sure it tasted fantastic. Anyways she had three bottles I believe, or maybe four. One for the 1st year anniversary, one for 5 year, and one for "the times when you need it" or something like that. They may have had a 10 year too, I can't remember. I love that idea though!

Any wines that say that they are "sulfate free" are one of two things.

                      1) not completely sulfate free - they will have small amounts of sulfates but the amounts are low enough that theya re allowed to label their wine as such

                      2) going to go bad as soon as or even before you open them. Sulfates are a natural preservative in wine, and without it, the wine starts to turn (vinegar smell/taste) almost immediately.

And, most people do not get headaches directly from the sulfates. If you find you get a headache from a favorite wine you can check the alcohol content. You may need to find a similar wine with a lower alcohol content. Also, try different varietals. Or drink less. Seriously, so many people complain about sulfates giving them 'wine headaches' after they've drank glass after glass all night long. That's oftentimes simply called a hangover, lol.
