AWESOME review Abbie!!

Everything looks absolutely beautiful and makes me want to go! I've actually never been to RM and we were just talking about breaking our habit venturing there (I'm sort of in love with Punta Cana and never go anywhere else anymore LOL). Your review has def convinced me to check it out!!!

So so glad you and DH had an amazing time, you totally deserved it!!!

shite, trisha for some reason your post reminded me that i forgot to take a pic of the weird plug outlet thingies to post in the GBP thread. dang it! we brought an extender thing with us that we already had at home, but it was a smidge too big. doug heated up the iron and melted the edges of our extender thingy and squooshed it into a shape that would fit (super safe and smart, i know!) and it totally worked just fine! oh and they did sell them in the shop for like $3, but if someone bought a couple at the $1 store before the trip , hmmmmm or actually that wouldnt be a horrible OOT bag addition, for a dollar each!

Abbie you and Doug are so freakin' cute together. I loved your review. Sounded like you guys had the best time and i felt like i was there. Well i was at GBP so maybe that's why i felt that way. They did not have the swing bar when i was there BOOOO! That would of been so much fun. Looks like they added another resort since i was there too.

I got a little excited when i saw the turtle painting and the artist has the same last name as me.

Xelha looks beautiful. You guys took a lot of day trips and really had some great experiences. Thanks for sharing with us.

PS i love the 2 blue dresses you had hanging in my closet.

Looks like you had an amazing time, and well deserved too!

There must be something about that side of Mexico and the sunrises, the only sunrise pictures I've ever taken were on my trip to Cancun, and they turned out amazing.

So glad you enjoyed Chichen Itza, I absolutely fell in love with the place when I was there. Do you remember where you were when the haunting feeling came over you the strongest? For me it was the "games" field, and seeing the spot where the royals would sit to watch the games. ooh, there go the shivers, just thinking about it. I bet we went to the same place for lunch and entertainment, I don't remember the names, but I remember the dancers were the cutest little kids. They tried so hard!

Loved reading all about it...now I can't wait to go back someday!

hi jenn! i just wrote you on FB :)

for me it was on the walk/path to the sacrifice cenote area, soooo creepy. doug said "wow can you imagine this is the same walk the people took on their way to see that happen" or something like that, and in 90+ degree weather, i got the chills!

and then we totally got the vibe next to the ball court, when we were standing by the wall of heads. thinking about the "winners" getting beheaded for being worthy of ascending right on past the 13 levels and straight up to the gods, and it happened right there inside that walled area!

(ok at least thats what our guide told us. haha, sidenote, on the flight home we watched Slumdog Millionaire and the part where the boys were giving tours around Taj Mahal, it totally made us laugh and look at each other. that just made me remember i wanted to come home and google what really is "thought" to have happened at chichen itza, to see if the "story" matches up with what we were told on our tour, hahahahaha wink.gif )

The story sounds right to me, I think our guide told us the same story.

I loved the cenote, but didn't have quite the same "creepy" feel as at the ball court...I think it might be because there were cute kitties walking around and sleeping in the shade, it was just difficult to think about sacrifices while I was cooing at the cats. embarrassed.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
