i used my real dress, and LOVED it. what else was i going to do with it? sell it for about 1/2 of what i originally paid? no way, lol.

it's been at the dry cleaners for about 2 weeks now... so we'll see if it comes out clean. it was seriously TRASHED after our shoot. Mostly because it was hemmed for me wearing 4-inch heels, and after we jumped in the ocean we rolled around on the beach & I was laying in the driveway in front of a speed bump sign. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Totally did the same thing and LOVED IT! I can't imagine not using my real dress, and like you Aimee what else was I going to do with it?!

Mine did not get so trashed though, it came out actually cleaner than it was after the reception! mmm and I hate to admit this but I still haven't taken it to the dry cleaners...yes almost a year later! I just have been too afraid that they will destroy it, haha, kind of ironic I think that right? It is fine though, just in the garmet bag in the closet...maybe I should make it my goal to actually get it dry cleaned before my 1 year anniv!

Now though when I look at wedding and TTD pics I get overly excited when I see that a bride used her actual dress for her TTD! It is weird I know, but in my opinion if you are going to do a TTD you might as well use your real dress!

BTW Aimee, I loved your photos! wink.gif

Ok I have a question about what to do with the dress after the TTD. We will be doing out TTD the morning after our wedding and then that afternoon heading off to another resort. Do you just hang it up until it dries or did you send it somewhere afterwards?

Yep, I recommend it!

Actually, I have a TTD dress brand new, sitting in the closet. But it's big, really really big, and I couldn't fit it in any of my luggage, and I didn't like it as much as my real dress. So I solved the problem the easiest way I could think of. Now to sell the TTD, lol!

I laid my dress over 2 chairs on our balcony. I didn't even rinse it off first, just laid it out to dry. It took about a day (I think... having a hard time remembering, lol). When I brought it home I soaked it in the tub and it took about 4 days to dry! But that is a whole different story.

The dry cleaners called- my dress is ready to be picked up, so I'll let you ladies know how clean it is now. I wish I would have taken a "before" picture.

hmm so what I did is after our TTD shoot down by the pool we asked the pool bartender for a trash bag. I had my swimsuit on underneath my dress and just went into the pool bathroom and took the dress off and put it in the trash bag to get it up to our room without leaving a trail of water behind us.
once i got to our room i rinsed it out in the shower and then just left it hanging in the shower to dry. it did take a day or two to fully dry out.

but you could maybe just put it in a trash bag until you get to the resort you are moving to and then rinse it out and such there?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
