this is what my photographer did. We went into Montego Bay for the TTD session. Specifically, we went to the market with all of the really bright colors, then we just walked down the main street. I haven't seen the pictures yet, but I suspect they are going to be really amazing. We also took a lot of pictures right at the water's edge.

I love that idea with the town colors!

ok i am totally in love with the TTD idea and want to do it for sure. i do have a couple of questions:

1. timing - i definitely think the next morning is ideal because i may have to pay for our photographers to stay overnight anyway, but who in the world would do my hair and makeup before sunrise? and, would you be too tired that early the day after all the wedding festivities?

2. cancun brides - where are you guys taking your TTD photos? i'd love to do them near the ruins on the beach, but is that crazy out of the way?

Not everyone does the TTD super early. Some Riviera Maya brides will choose super early because they can get some awesome golden light photos with the sunrise.

I personally started my trash the dress session at 8 am. My husband and I wanted to start early, but not TOO early! We stayed out until 2pm too, so it was a long AWESOME day!

I typically suggest to my brides that we go earlier in the morning, around 8 or 9 at the latest. The reason being that the beaches are typically more empty the earlier you go. As it gets later in the morning people wake up and get to the beach and you'll have the Speedo man in your pictures! :) Also, with the direct sunlight, shadows become a problem and HEAT becomes a problem!

Yup, typically done the day after so that your photographer can stay the least amount of days. As for hair and makeup, most brides just go with it. I personally slept in my wedding hair. Unpinned it in the morning and took the curls and placed them in a loose side pony tail. I loved it. It was casual and I thought very pretty. My makeup I simply touched up slightly and away we went! :) And yes, tired is typically an issue, but honestly, TTD sessions are so much fun, you forget pretty darn quickly that you're tired!

You cannot take pictures at the ruins, but you can take pictures at the beach near the ruins (that is where I take most of my brides). It's very beautiful. But yes, it is pretty far from Cancun. Perhaps you'd want to choose a beach closer to the Playa Del Carmen area or even further north than that.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
