Pricing for 2010 Weddings in Cancun/Mayan Riviera

Recommended Posts

We just finalized our booking for the Moon Palace for one week in February 2010. For anyone who is leaving out of Western Canada (especially those of us in Edmonton) the number of chartered planes leaving out of our city is significantly reduced this year which is part of the reason the prices are so high. If you can hold off and wait prices may come down but I wouldn't count on any drastic reductions from the Canadian wholesalers this year. Its more likely they will start to park planes before they start dropping our prices. (I was a travel agent for several years so I am speaking with some experience - however I am the first to admit that the travel industry is constantly changing and its been a couple of years since I have worked in the industry so I am by no means an expert anymore).

Western Canada brochures usually start to come out around early August and most travel agencies begin their sun promos around the same time which is why the prices drop. If you are flexible about your date and your resort to some degree then holding out might save you and your guests some money - if your really looking to save then consider getting married in early December - its the best combination of savings and weather for Mexico.

and make sure you shop around - sorry if there are any travel agents out there reading this, I'm not trying to make you sound bad or make you do any work for free but I know for a fact that the people that come in knowing how much they can pay for a holiday always get the best price. (with that said when you do call an agent and your looking for a deal you need to what resorts your considering - don't make them look at everything under the sun for you because they will either charge a research fee for their time or they won't do a very good job)

Good Luck Brides and I wish you all the best.

(in case anyone is wondering - we are booked already with transat and my main reason for booking early is because I insist on club class seats with transat - best money I have ever spent)

I am having the same concerns as everyone else!! It is so stressful when the TA can't even tell you anything, it's only time. I went into a couple of place yesterday and the 2010 pricing is still not out. I was told to wait a couple months to book because the prices may go down after this swine flu episode clears. The resort we want is priced at $2100 plus taxes right now (out of Vancouver). This is way too high for important people like my two sisters who have recently bought homes and are wanting kids! AHH I am stressed out, hate to put the planning on hold but it seems like I have to sad.gif

I am in the same boat ladies!

I was in the process of deciding which month to have my wedding (narrowed it down to Feb/Mar/April)...

The TA told me that February is most expensive, then March, then April.. (not counting holidays, where the prices go way up)

So therefore I am going with late April.

I am hoping to find a resort where my guests will only have to pay 1200-1500 for the week....fingers crossed!

I have emailed the TA to let me know of a few nice yet budget friendly resorts in the Mayan Riviera area.. so I will share them when she replies!

I am so impatient!

I totally hear your frustrations ladies!! I have been asking around for pricing out of Toronto (usually less then the west coast) and the quotes i got back are crazy!! Im being told to wait until late summer for pricing to come out as well, and have also been told to shop around. That being said, its easy to just wait until late summer but the reality is the guests want to know now so they can start saving.

When the day comes that you are able to book with 2010 pricing out can you PM me so i know when to start shopping or post a message here....i will do the same for all of you as well.

Very frustrated!!

For all of you that have guests looking for pricing now, can you give them estimates?? You would pretty much know approx how much you are looking to spend - or how much it was this year. I think that should satisfy your guests...I'm sure if you're off by $100 or $200 it's not going to be the end of the world!

This is incredible. I have to say again, look at smaller hotels in the PDC area that are not resorts and i am sure you will find that you can do it for less and get a better and friendlier response.

I have booked friends up to 18 months in advance and with a wedding planner, they were done with their arrangements a year in advance as the smaller hotels want to work with brides and their groups. You will get a great rate, depending on the hotel of course and you will have a super intimate experience.

the wedding planners who do not work for resorts do a great job, can get you what ever you want and you will have personal service, not just a wedding of thousands where you are a number not a person.

check out some of the planners and see what you can find but there are some good ones out there....and some really great small hotels in pdc

I looked this morning, and pricing for our resort is on their website...not any of the travel/touring company sites though, which I thought was interesting. The rates don't look bad at all, but I can only assume the TA will have better, so I emailed her letting her know the hotel has them listed on their web site and available for booking.

I suppose we have the option of booking hotel and air seperately, but I'm not sure if they apply price drops that way, or maybe it's the other way around. lol I'll have to check.

Kimmy, I wouldn't *think* there would be a fee, but I've never worked with that chain before. You're far enough out and you just booked it anyway, so just talked to the coordinator if you're seriously considering changing dates.

Just out of curiosity I spent about ten minutes on Orbitz last night pricing Riviera Maya packages to see what the diff was the the weeks on either side of Easter. It's pretty drastic. Even my hotel's package for a simple 7 nt stay in a standard room went up by almost $500 when I plugged in the week before. It can make a difference. Check with the coordinator and your TA if you have one.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
