How long is/did your AHR last?

Recommended Posts

Ours is this Saturday! I am excited for it but also ready for it to be done!

We can get it at 10 AM to set up (it's the Eagles club so they aren't so formal in their rules)

We went with 5 hours:

5:00-5:45 apps and people arrive

6:00-7:00 Buffet dinner with our pic slideshow and ceremony video

7:-7:15 first dance and cake cutting

7:15-7:30 thank yous to family/friends

7:30-10:00 dancing!

We're having a very traditional AHR, with hors d'ouevres, drinks, DJ, etc. We have the hall for 24 hours (midnight to midnight which isn't exactly handy for clean up so we're paying them to do that, and I can't say I'm terribly sorry about that situation), but I scheduled the reception for 4 hours, mostly to keep costs on food and drinks down to something manageable. :-)

Well, we are having it at my Dad's art gallery that he owns so we are not limited on time. However, the invites that were just sent out do say "6:30-8:30". We are just doing beer/wine + hourdeurves (however the HECK you spell that!!! LOL), but we're also trying to squeeze in our legal ceremony. Personally I don't think 6:30-8:30 is enough time (my Grandma planned it tho - lol)... I'm thinking we'll stay and dance and stuff til at least 10... I think 4 hrs is plenty of time.

We are doing ours from 8-12 at a local Cuban restaurant. It is semi-formal. I am not even sure that I want to wear my wedding gown so I am thinking of getting a short, more casual one. We are having a buffet, beer, wine and Sangria, and the restaurant has a bar right outside the hall so if anybody wants to drink something else, it's right there. I have not ask about the set up time but since ours is the only one that day I don't think we'll have a problem with that the manager is so nice but I'll ask anyways. We are also planning on getting a dj and showing a slideshow of our pics.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
