Did anyone out there add $$ to their trip price?

Wow, that bride is the one who wanted a DW, she should be paying more not having her guests pay more. I am shocked and sooo glad I don't know her, she would be getting a piece of my mind that is for sure. That is so low and scummy it makes me sick.

Wow Chloe .. that seems pretty low of the bride and groom. I mean i think we all know that a DW cuts down on wedding costs significantly than having a wedding in the U.S. It seems like that couple wanted to get out of all the wedding costs and just pay for their own trip.

My thoughts on the original question is to not charge everyone else so that your Maid of honor and best man can travel for free. If you can't afford to pay for their whole trip at least offer them a portion or as I'm doing, Pay for their attire (i'm covering the girls dresses) and then paying for a spa day while we are at the wedding. I don't think many people are opposed to paying their way to a DW because they're getting a vacation out of it as well.

I stood in a friend's wedding in Mexico and would of never expected my trip to be covered. The bride bought my dress and I really appreciated not having that as an expense so we've done the same thing for our wedding party. IMO, that's enough. Don't forget that they do get a vacation out of it, probably wouldn't miss your wedding for the world and I'm sure they don't expect you to foot the bill. Just my opinion. :)

I forgot about this until now but our TA recommended that we use the free flights for ourselves (every 21st flight booked is free). I thought that was a bit sketch too. Has anyone else heard of this? Her reasoning was that nobody cares about getting an extra $10 - $20 off their trip so we should just take the free trips...

I honestly wouldn't feel good tacking on any extra charges to our guests bills for our own benefit or anyone else's. Frankly it screams tacky to me especially because your guests are already investing lots of time and money to be part of the festivities. IMHO the fact that the TA would even suggest this is uncouth and plain ol shady!

We used our free trips, instead of taking the $10 off each person's trip, we used one for a GM who would not have been able to come otherwise and the other for our photographer. I asked my guests and they said they didn't care about $10 when the free trips would help us out so much. But never would we have charged them more, I felt bad enough not saving them $10.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
