Sorry I've being MIA... I got the cake from an outside vendor... but the Dreams also supplied us with a carrot cake... the presentation wasn't great, but the cake was awesome...

Hi! We got married at the Dreams VM in May and I'm still dealing with solving some major issues with the Villamagna. I wanted to apologize for not posting a review, but I want to make sure to wait for the outcome of our issues before I write a review.

This is my opinion from my experience, but I DON'T recommend for any brides to get married at this resort. It's a BAD PLACE FOR WEDDINGS!!!!

It's an OK place for your guest to stay, but I highly suggest that you hold your wedding elsewhere...

If your group is staying for a long period of time (longer than 3 days) I don't think this is the right place to stay, due to the extremely inconsistent service and several other reasons!!!

My intention is not to stress anyone, but I just think that it's the right thing to provide you with a heads up. Also, please keep in mind that I hired an outside wedding planner and I still have to deal with the Dreams VM ripoff and BullSh7t... They stole a great amount of money $,$$$ from us!

Sorry for downer ladies :0(

Ok so now I'm a little worried...most of our guests are there for the week (in canada, charters run for 1 week)... Susana - I know we talked about some of the inconsistencies..and I am hoping they will all clear up by January... HOWEVER..OMG the last couple reviews on Trip Advisor are absolutely awful... they said mold in rooms? The resort is new so that is kinda questionable to me? Hopefully they will bring new management in given it is supposed to be under the Preferred Hotels umbrella (fingers crossed). Sucks 'cause the only other really good resorts in Nuevo are Grand Velas (too expensive for my guests) and Riu Palace Pacifico (which in Canada Sunquest has the monopoly over so it is over $2000 (again too expensive for my guests).

For other brides whose guests are staying there, my FI is going to be in vallarta in a couple weeks and I'm going to get him to take lots of pics and scope out the place and see what is going on with management/entertainment/water sports etc. He is from there and knows a ton of people who work in the hotel industry there and can get lots of info on it. Stay tuned 'til the end of July...

For brides who are actually getting married there..when i started the planning process, my WC Dazzling Details recommended that if you go with an outside coordinator, you should only use your outside coordinator and not the hotel coordinator to avoid any confusion regarding costs etc...

As for me..I recommend a villa or las caletas or something on those lines for your actual wedding if it is feisible.

Sandy,

Did you try looking into Villa Del Palmar Flamingo?? My guests are staying there..ive been to Nuevo many times as my parents own a condo there, and it is by far the nicest resort ( other than grand velas) there are kitchen in all of the rooms, and many different options ( 2 bd room/3bdrm/studio etc). The grouds are amazing, and the pricing is great. There is an all inclusive option for $65/day usd, and a grocerie store on site with everything you could need. I was far more imperssed with this resort than villamagna, and really liked the different options for my guests.

Thanks TAM1118. I had seen Villa Del Palmar Flamingo on Trip Advisor and it looked really pretty..but I didn't realize it had an AI option, which is why I didn't really consider it.

Most of my guests have booked already though..so Dreams VM it is... I'm crossing my fingers things will get better and the kinks will be worked out :) If not, there's always drinking extra tequila down there to not even notice :)

I actually booked it sight unseen for my guests/me to stay at. I'm having my wedding at Casa China Blanca. Susana is the one that had her wedding and stayed there in May.

Susana - can you explain some of the inconsistencies? Thanks!

VEHR0016: unfortunately, there's another terrible review up on trip advisor sad.gif .. I don't know what is up with this hotel...some reviews are wonderful but the last few are awful... my guests are booked so there's no going back now..i'm so surprised at the reviews given this is a Dreams property... I will let you know what my FI says once he checks things out over the next couple weeks. Do you want me to get him to find out anything specific for you when he is there?

Some of the inconsistencies that I have recently heard about is the food, service, showers leaking, tubs actually rolling over, little entertainment, watersports that were advertised but weren't there... this is all hearsay though.. but it seems to be a pretty consistent complaint. It is rated in the Sunquest brochure as a 5+ star.

Sorry for so many posts - but on a more positive note, here is my travel agent's take (and I quote):

"Sandra don't worry every resort even 6 stars will always get some people complaining about the smallest things, Dreams is getting mostly excellent reviews.Trip advisor is not the best place to read reviews, some of the people posting are fake, there was a write-up on many newspapers about trip advisor about other hotels doing bad and good reviews. Dreams is an excellent resort."

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
