Riu Resorts: time frame to confirm wedding date/time

Recommended Posts

Hey girls! I'm nervously and anxiously awaiting a call back from the Riu Tropical Bay to confirm my wedding request date for August.

The request was placed on Friday 4-17-09. How long has it taken someone to respond back from the Riu for those of you that are booked already?

Our options are to have our wedding either Fri or Sat durring our stay and book either the Riu Tropical Bay or Riu Ochos Rios. The initial request was placed for the Tropical Bay.

It only took a few days for mine to come back. I booked at Riu Ocho Rios though and had my travel agent do the booking for me. I then had three months to get my group (10 people) booked and deposits paid. This was the most stressful part of the whole process for me.

Thanks ladies! You have all put my mind at ease for a bit. I'm going through a TA, but she put a hold on our rooms AND THEN requested a date. She did it all backwards and left me mad, upset and stressed out.

After having a bridezilla meltdown in the agency.....it was straightened out a bit, but I couldn't put a deposit down on our DW rooms on Fri as planned for ourselves or guests because we have no def. date confirmed. It seems like everything was going fine, but blew up in my face when the TA "dropped the ball" Fri.

Now, I'm waiting for our DW request for the ceremony to be confirmed by the RPTB, then we will book the rooms. If there's not a times slot for the days we're looking for, then we will look at the ROR. I would have gone with the ROR first, but we are going to the Sandals in Ochos Rios for our honeymoon so we figured we would stay in different areas, since we will be in Jamaica for 2 weeks.

Hi, I know the feeling I am totally stressed out, We booked our package with a TA and included the wedding package, requested any of 3 possible dates because it was more important for us to have a late wedding rather than the date. Well had a date confirmed but no time, the TA don't seem bothered that I really need to know if I have the requested time and bascially have left it to me to try and contact the WC to find this out. If I don't get the requested time then I would like to change the date, but the TA does not seem to understand what my problem is or why I am upset.

I am now awaiting confirmation from the WC who I emailed on Saturday.

Well stressed.

I had the same problem, I booked through a TA and they did nothing but stress me out....they booked me the wrong date 1st of all and never gave me a time! but I just got in contact the the WC myself and now I have the correct date and time....your best doing it yourself rather than relying on TA's they seem so uninterested! at least you know that way it's done!

Same here! I ended up emailing the WC myself also over the weekend. She responded back to me late Monday night. Woo hoo!!!! I thought to myself.... how hard was that, really? Why couldn't the TA have done the same? I didn't want to have to babysit people, which is half of the reason that we chose to do a DW! Here I am, as usual, babysitting a TA. But, it IS my wedding, so of course i'm going to make sure it's done correctly!

The RPTB WC confirmed by email that we have the date/time of Aug. 7, 2009 on the beach at $pm with a civil/legal ceremony.

What a project to get something you would think would be so simple done!!!

I was crying in the TA office Friday because I just bought my dress that day and ended up not having a wedding date! Can you imagine. You are absolutly correct when you all agree that they don't really see a problem. They are just getting money and booking a trip, as far as they're concerned. It's not a trip to Disney Land, I informed them.....IT'S MY WEDDING!!!! Very different/ fix your mess.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
