Canjet hijacking at montego bay- sangster airport

Recommended Posts

When I heard the news I thought the same thing, hope no one from the BDW forum was involved. I knew a few of the RIU Montego Bay brides had been there last week, but was hopeful that everyone was safely at home when this happened. Talk about being in a dramatic situation--YIKES !

So glad that everyone is safe !

so crazy! I saw this on the news today and I couldn't believe it! I'm so glad that everyone is safe and sound. I'm not sure that the bride was acually on that flight though, because all the reports I've heard have been talking about the guests going down. Hopefully this didn't interfere with their wedding!

wow i am so glad everything turned out well in the end and that no one that we knew (potentially only the guests of the bride and groom were on board. it is really scary and the security at Sangster really needs to step up! I hope they throw the book at this direlict!

We were the next Canadian flight out of MoBay after the CanJet incident -- zero issues with getting through the airport and our flight was on time. The CanJet plane was still out on the tarmac when we got there and the Jamaican police had just arrested him when we arrived at the airport. Not sure if anyone from BDW was on that flight.... Im pretty sure montegobay09 (Gisele?) was from Halifax and her wedding was this month at the Riu in MoBay -- hopefully it wasnt her flight out.

Nope, wasn't my flight. I had just gotten home when it happened and our phone was ringing off the hook with people checking to make sure it wasn't us! Such a scary experience I'm sure but thankfully everything was resolved.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
