Girls-

Glad to see we are all in the same boat. I have pretty much narrowed my wedding search to the domincan because my FI and I live in San francisco but are from the east coast, mostly boston and New york. So 80% of our guests are comin from the east coast and wanted to make this wedding both affordable and short flight for them. My Fi and I are used to flying to see them anyways, whats another 4 hours:) We have about 60-80 people who I think are coming and are having the hardest time deciding what resort. Here's what we want (ideally)

-all inclusive (lots of foodies and drinkers comin)

-pretty good night life

-somewhat private ceremony area (gazebo or secluded area on beach)

-about 1000-1500 per person with flight (most people will only stay about 4 nights)

Any info will help? Excellence, Dreams Punta Cana, Paradissus PUnta cana and palma real all look great to me....HELP!

It really is so helpful to know that I am not the only one 'freaking out' about the whole process. The only thing we know we want is Punta Cana, and would prefer the first week of May. I have emailed a few resorts that I like (Majestic Colonial, Gran Bahia and Malia...but the Gran Palladium and PPD resorts also look amazing. We are going to talk to a TA today who can hopefully shed some more light on this.

For the STD's, has anyone put potential prices for guests on them?

hey nbulldog19,

FI and i decided on the Paradisus Punta Cana. We were also on a budget, so I went to redtag.ca and looked into the packages. For august, it came out to around $1600pp. The Paradisus Palma Real is really luxurious but *really* pricey. The one in Punta Cana is also all-inclusive and has a really nice gazebo too. I think someone posted them up in the Paradisus thread. if not PM me and i'll send you all the info I have on it.

Hope that helps. Msg me if there's anything else I can help with!

thanks Mctoasty! Its funny cuz I was actually looking at that resort. Foxytv's review a year ago made me want to go with this resort too. Her wedding was affordable and beautiful, she also loved the resort. I just need to stop reading all the tripadvisor reviews on that resort and every other one I am thinkin of, it is driving me crazy. My FI is a firm believer in "you cant please everyone" and thats helping me calm down. I am gonna check out the paradisus thread today but if you could also send me your info so far that would be great 2. my email is nbulldog19@hotmail.com. How hard was it to confirm your date? I am gonna call 2moro. thanks again

ps My name is Nicole :)

Don't worry...you ar not alone!

I've been trying to plan since our engagement in Nov for our Feb 2010 wedding. only recently have th prices just come out and were in the final stages of narrowing.:)

The other are right...Pick a destination.

Second...spend countless amount of hours on BDW site to figure out the best resort and what to expect where your going.

Third...Go dress shopping:) Keep this fun...you are on your way to the rest of your life!

Everyone on here is a tremendous help and gives nice comments.

Fourth...Meet with a travel agent to discuss spacific arrangments and special needs.

Fifth...Pull together the little things. Packets, brochures, information for guests, ect...

Believe me I'm still stressing but I think half of the battle is just picking the destination and the resort:)

Have you decided on where to get married? Were you originally going to get married in Cuba but now changed to Punta Cana? (your info says Cuba/May 2010).

I got married at PPC and have pics in the links in my siggy. I also started a LOT of threads in the DR section about the resort, etc that should prove helpful. If you can't find them, use the Advanced Search section and search for my username and "threads started by user" and you will get a list ... then just go through those pages til you find the threads of interest to you. Hope that helps!

Hey Dreamy101 - it may sound trite, but so often "getting there" is as important as the destination. You've come to the right place for some great help, so are on the right path.

Good luck with all your plans, and enjoying the rest of your life together.....all the best!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
