The only suggestion I've heard is Margaret Myrie. I've read good things about her on this forum, but was disappointed when I contacted her for 3 reasons:

1. She was very short with me (3 word e-mails etc.) and came off a bit rude...

2. Price: I wanted a basic 3 tier white cake with NO decoration (I was going to bring my own ribbon for the tiers and my own flowers to decorate)...she quoted me something ridiculous over $400.

3. The pictures she sent of cakes she's done didn't really even look nice...like lopsided, melty, and average at best.

Obviously I haven't seen her product first-hand, so correct me if I'm wrong. Still looking for the "perfect cakebaker" so please, Negril brides--share your experiences! :)

I asked for a quote for a "very basic cake...3 tiered, white cake, with our color (Tiffany blue) ribbon at the base of each tier, with bright orange and pink flowers going down the side. We can provide the ribbon and flowers"...for 40 guests.

The response I got back was, "$380-$400"

I then said, "Could you send me some pictures/examples of your cakes and prices? I was hoping to budget much less than that since it is such a simple, plain white cake with zero decoration. Thanks."

Miss Myries response, "I dont use cake mix. And here prices are quite high. And my cakes are layered with filling instead of icing."

I wrote back essentially saying I had budgeted a lot less for cake blah, blah, blah, and she suggested I order a cake for less people to cut the cost.

So,there ya go... :-/ lol

eek! Well since we're on the topic, and I know you're a fellow MDC bride. Has Kerry quoted you the reception costs yet? She told me $125 per person and they won't let me cut things out to lessen the price per person sad.gif Oh, and with the tax and service charge it will be $150 perperson sad.gif

yikes...I'm assuming you booked before it switched over to all-inclusive? The 5-course reception is free for me because all the guests are all-inclusive...They should let you cut some things out to reduce the price...doesn't seem fair!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
