Megan's Cabo Planning Thread

Recommended Posts

Ok, I realize that this is a bit late seeing as how I just got back from my wedding, but I thought I would post my planning thread anyway. I borrowed so many ideas from the forum that I thought I would return the favor in case this helps anyone.

Our ceremony site was the beach in front of Pitahayas restaurant with the reception at a private villa nearby.

We sent out message in a bottle save the dates:

followed by boarding pass invites. I merged several different styles from all the templates that I found on the forum.

We also sent out a prewedding brochure with luggage tags a few weeks before the wedding:

For our OOT bags I ordered jelly totes from ebay. They were only $1 each and waterproof and everyone seemed to like them. Inside each were beach towels, chapstick, aloe, sunscreen, suduko puzzles, first aid kits, crystal lights, flashlights, pashminas for the women, postcards, photoshare card.

My bridesmaids got a few extras including a monogrammed robe, sequin flip flops from old navy and a bunch of makeup, lipgloss and nail polish from e.l.f.(everything is only $1 and it's great makeup).

The kids got their own bags. I forgot to take pictures, but they were super cute pink and orange terry cloth bags with a matching beach towel. I got them on clearance at Land's End. I made a kids activity book, a few stickers, toys, beach balls and also a flower girl shirt (target tshirt with an ironon decal):

For the ceremony, the decor was very simple. Most everything was DIY. I made votive candle placeholders using vellum paper from Michaels and centerpieces were various size vases with white marbles, floating orchids and floating candles (all from Michaels).

We also order custom painted maracas in our wedding colors for favors. I tied them to the backs of the chairs using ribbon:

and last, the dress. This is tricky because i found out that i was pregnant after we booked everything. I did a TTD shoot at our site visit when I was only 4 months along and then bought a new dress for the wedding (81/2 months along):

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
