LOL! I considered that because we don't remember when we actually became an exclusive couple. We use the date we met as our anniversary now and it was going to be our wedding date, 5th anniversary but we moved our date back and now it on FI's parents 45th anniversary.

We picked our date because Halloween is my absolute favorite day of the year, and it just happened to be a Saturday the year we wanted to get married. (We had a long 2 year engagement because we wanted to pay cash for our wedding and had just bought a house a year before getting engaged.)

Ours was random. Our anniversary is in December but FI b-day, my b-day and all 3 kids have b-day close to it, so we wanted something to celebrate later in the year. We narrowed it down to June or April because we new we needed next years tax return to spend on the wedding. Then it came down to June because FI and the kids needed to be out of school. After that we just picked a date we thought "looked and sounded" good. Silly but whatever. Never thought that would be how I would choose, always wanted a fall wedding but I don't want to wait that long!

I wish I had a romantic reason for picking my date. Unfortunately I had to pick it based around my bf's wedding. She has been engaged for 4 years now, and kept postponing her wedding. She also has 3 kids, and will be in my wedding, so I knew that MY wedding would have to be HER honeymoon since there is no way she could go away twice in one year without her 3 kids. So I pretty much had to tell her that she needed to pick a date and get the show on the road for her wedding so I could pick a date for mine. The only cruise going to Bermuda in the fall was in October or later, so that brought us to the first week of October. Her wedding is Sat Sept.26, and mine will be a week later on Oct 8th. The day after my birthday. Blah. Well, at least he will never forget our anniversary. If so, he's in the doghouse twice over!

Our date was random. We originally wanted to get married five months after being engaged, however, that was cutting planning way too close. Early March of 2009 was our cutofff because after mid-March we would be competing with the spring breakers and in the summer months, it would be too hot. So we picked March as our wedding month.

We had a lot of factors...

1. FI has kids so it had to be in summer when they are out of school otherwise the ex would not let them go

2. We knew we wanted to get married in Cabo and then narrowed it down to Dreams and then looked at what dates were left (got engaged in Oct, decided on Cabo in Nov, getting married in July - not much summer selection left)

3. We got engaged on his birthday, tried to get married on mine, only the day before was avail, so settled for that. I didn't REALLY want my anniversary and my bday to be on the same date anyway :)

We picked our date around hurricaine season and my work schedule.

Got engaged in Dec 07 and knew we wanted a long engagement to save money and plan.

Jul 08 - Aug 08: Summer = too hot!

Sep 08 - Dec 08: Large transitioning project at work. I manage an office building and had about 1000 people moving out of my building and into a new one.

Sep 08 - May 09: Large construction project ongoing in my facility for new commercial Tenant moving in. I needed to be around.

May 09 - Jun -09: budget season. Need to be around.

July 09 - Aug 09: Summer = too hot!

Sep 09 - Nov 09: Hurricaine season

Dec 09 - We knew we wanted a Saturday. Dec 5 - friends married this weekend in 08 and did not want duplicate date. Dec 19 & 26 - too close to Christmas.....drumroll......tada.....Dec 12, 2009 it is!

Ours is very random we wanted to avoid the hurricane season and also give our guests enough time to save up and request off of work. We originally set it for February 19, but then our travel agent said we'd probably avoid the spring breakers price hike by going in Jan ... so here we are Jan 29 2010 ....

I started out wanting to have the wedding in May. In AZ, school gets out in May so I wouldn't have to deal with school schedules. Travel would be cheaper as well. However, I visited in May and decided that it was too hot for my mother-in-law who has lupus and is very uncomfortable in the heat. I decided to try to have the wedding around carnival, so that I could give my guests a unique experience, so we decided on Feb. Then I checked with my coordinator and photographer for availability. We decided on a Monday so that we would have more flexibility when negotiating with the vendors. It also allowed people to fly back on Tuesday, which is a cheaper flight day. I decided on sunrise after visitin the Tulum ruins and learned that the ruins were dedicated to the sunrise, and that the area was dedicated to the sunrise (we had our wedding in Tulum). It also made since we are on the wrong side of the land to have a sunset wedding.

Before we decided to have a DW, we were going to get married on our 7th anniversary (April 26, 2010). Once we decided on a DW, we wanted to move the date up since we wouldn't need quite as much time to plan things out. We moved it up by 6 months to our "half" anniversary (October 26th).. so now we'll get to celebrate twice a year! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
