Upgrade the wedding band later??

Recommended Posts

Is anyone else buying a wedding band they're not crazy about just cause it does the job and more importantly fits in the budget with plans to upgrade on the 1st anniversary or sometime after the actual exchange of rings at the ceremony??

I really wanted two wedding bands, but I knew it would probably be over budget. The plan was to get one and get a second one as an anniversary present later. However, the jeweler that made my engagement ring was able to make two bands for the price of one at other stores. I ended up getting two and I am glad that we did. I think my ring looks complete with both of them and now that the wedding is over and we are buying a house I don't think I would've gotten my second band for a long time.

Hi! Yes, we are definitely doing this. I bought my wedding band too early I think, and it's just a little flashy for me combined with my E-Ring. BUT it will totally fit the bill and do the job for now, and I like it so why not? My FI also jumped the gun on his wedding band and just got a really plain one and now does not like it (I tried to warn him... lol cheesy.gif). We may try and get him a new one before the wedding, but right now my motto is "simple is good" - trying to leave as much stress out of the picture as possible. If something is too complicated, it's just not worth it! Ya know?

So anyways, we will both probably switch bands later - maybe for our 1 year anniversary present. I will also get the diamonds in my E-Ring upgraded eventually.

I haven't picked my band yet. The one I like is more than want we were planning on spending right now. It's been hard finding something that complements my e-ring.

I'll have to decide soon whether to go with the budget and upgrade later or go all out now :)

I haven't looked yet, but I have a feeling I will be wanting to upgrade. I love my diamond, but the setting is a little plain for me. So my dilemma right now is whether I go ahead an upgrade my e-ring now and get a band to match. Or keep it, get a band to match and upgrade down the road.

Good thread!

We will actually be upgrading my E-ring in five years. He hates my FI and I actually love it. The one the he wanted me to have was out of stock when he went back to buy it and he didn't have time to wait because he was going to propose that weekend. So, we're upgrading to the ring he likes or one close to it if that style isnt available in five years and upgrading the carat size.

I too am buying a plain wedding band to cut down on the costs pre wedding and then updating hopefully for the 1st anniversary. My engagement ring has 10 channel set diamonds going down from the cathedral setting stone and the matching wedding band has about 14 channel set diamonds which is going to be a little too expensive for us right now.

My thought is now we should buy inexpensive rings and have a nice little engraving put on these and once we can upgrade to nicer wedding rings I can wear my special engraved one on a necklace :).

I am planning on upgrading my FI's wedding band. I bought him a tungsten band because they are so durable, but now that it is in-I don't like it. I want to buy him a white gold or platinum one as soon as I can! I only spent $200 on the tungsten band, so I don't have much $$ tied up in it.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
