Majestic Wedding Disaster!

Recommended Posts

Lindsay,

Sorry to hear about all of the troubles you went through!! But glad that everything is going well for you now with the PPR. We are thinking about the PPR also - how far in advance did you have to book your day?!

Thanks! and good luck with everything else :)

Thanks for all the comments everyone!
I had originally booked the Majestic in February , over a year before my wedding date. I booked the PPR the last week in March of this year so about a year in advance. I knew what date I wanted so I wanted to book as early as I could. If you are open to your date though you do have more time.
Let me know if you have any PPR questions.

WHAT a complete nightmare!

So sorry you had to deal with that mess. I'm sure you are thanking your lucky stars that you found out as early as you did, because it seems like that was only the tip of the iceberg of problems you could have encountered! It's hard enough to decide on your location to begin with, but it sounds to me like it is a huge blessing in disguise that it happened this way...

All the best with your new planning, now that everything is a lock!

Christie

My wedding is March 28th, I am getting there the 25th.

WOW That was horrific! That gave me chills thinking that they could be so cold about the situation, especially with all that proof! I agree with everyone else you were really blessed to have found out so early! I'm considering the same resort as you, and with all the reviews I'm feeling more confident about it. Could you PM me with any information you may have, it would be really helpful to our planning.

That's a bit unprofessional from their side, but it happens quite a bit.

There were times when I'd reserve a hotel, come and and found myself without a room, because they don't have my name and the hotel is booked. Basically, they would just give it away. Of course I will never stay in those places again.

I've also heard about vendors booking better paying clients and canceling the old contract, just to get a bit extra $. The whole wedding business is built so much on referrals and those who don't know this find often find themselves with no business and and clients. A Toronto photographer for example, stole a images for his online portfolio from about 10 other local photographers. We all found out and blogged about it. Now anyone who will google for their name will have those blogs come up way before his website.

Good for you for posting this! It's sad that managers of Majestic didn't want to take care of that.

Oh I am so sorry to hear this at least you found out with enough time to make new arrangements I am sure you will have an amazing wedding. When we got married the resort booked a 200 person wedding for the same location and time so we got bumped but did not find out until we were there.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
