I agree, the Book of Negroes was fantastic and inspiring.  I also got a Kobo reader -- it's great for the gym!

I love reading on the iPad and find it much better than reading on a regular computer screen. You can easily adjust the backlight and tone, size, and font of the text. Personally I wouldn't go for an e-reader because I can't see spending the money on a one function device. I like the iPad for it's versatility - gps, internet access, iPod, games, movies, tv, etc.

The downside is that on the iTunes store the selection of books available to Canadians sucks! It's just the free classics like Shakespeare. I ended up getting the kindle app anyway (it's free) because it has a much better selection of books to buy. There are many different Reader apes and they all have different features so you have a lot of choice

I feel bad, I've been MIA for a very long time!   I just placed an order for six new books with some birthday money, and a bunch of the titles I ordered are listed here.

It's about a family in WWII Germany. Very compelling.

LOVE this book, it's one of the few that had me laughing and crying at the same time while reading it.

I just ordered the first one, I've been wanting to read it for a while.

I think I have to check out an E Reader too!!  How much do they run? (Canadian) Or a recommended brand to buy?!!

Looking forward to reading Girl WIth The Dragon Tattoo, it should be arriving this week along with the second in the series.

Loved  Secret Daughter, I couldn't believe how emotional it made me.

I've heard good things about the Kobo, the one that Chapters is selling.  I've played with the one on display in the store, and it actually seems pretty decent.  I'm still on the fence myself, I love the feel of a good book...but, I hate having to wait until the book comes out in paperback, or, if I just have to have it in hardcover, it's so bulky to carry around. I bus to work, and it's difficult to balance.

Heather - welcome to the reading thread!!

I think I might continue being the traditionalist & read paper books...until they become obsolete of course...then I will succumb to technology! lol

Definitely give Secret Daughter a go, it's amazing.   I know what you mean about the pile of books; my mom just leant me six or seven, and I have six coming from Chatpers.ca this week.

Loved this book, still haven't gotten around to reading the other four!  I need to get on that!

I haven't read 'The Book of Negroes 'yet, but my book club read 'Any Known Blood' by the same author. It was SO good! I can't wait to read 'The Book of Negroes' now :)

Has anyone read 'Sarah's Key' by Tatiana De Rosnay? I keep picking it up in Chapters but haven't bought it yet.

I just finished reading 'Icy Sparks' by Gwyn Rubio. OMG. It was soooo good!! It's about a young girl with Tourette's syndrome in the 1950s. I fell in love with this character and it was a heart-wrenching read. So good!

Jenn - you can buy the Hitchhiker's Guide as one book. I originally read the first one, then I found the entire "trilogy" in one hardcover book so I bought it. Here it is in a soft cover! http://www.amazon.ca/Hitchhikers-Guide-Galaxy-Trilogy-Parts/dp/0330316117/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1283344438&sr=8-10

I just finished "Mennonite in a Little Black Dress"...FINALLY! Ugh...it dragged on & on! I think I'm going to start Eat Pray Love now, can't wait!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
