Who loves to Read???

I enjoyed Water for Elephants- totally beyond my normal reads so it was a nice change. Sometimes I get sick of reading the same type of books over and over.

Eat, Pray, Love- I'm surprised it's going to be a movie and I was intrigued by that thought. Here's my honest opinion- maybe I'm not a very deep person or not analytical enough (which is bullshit cause I am....lol!), but I didn't get past Eat. When I eat, I devour and go yep, that was good. I'm not a palette washer- roll it around in your mouth- eater. Not that's what it's about, but I don't think about food in that regard. So once she got to spirituality and started to dig into that deeply, I was like ok, moving on. I know lots of people that really love the book though! LOL So long story short, I hope you enjoy it.

Ok, I gotta few books to add to my list. I hope I can start contributing back now that I have a grad school break and I can read for fun again!

lol This is so me too!! I'm not an overly spiritual person either, but I'll let you know how it goes! I think I'm more excited to read the man's version! lol

Sounds divine to me! I'm reading "Something Blue" by Emily Giffin. It's kind of a trashy book, but great for the summer and working out at the gym. After that, I'm looking forward to reading "the Birth House".

For all the Twilight & Sookie Stackhouse lovers I have a suggestion of another series of books that I just finished. It is the Anita Blake series it is about 20 books I am on book 18 and I am hooked. It takes everything from the other books to the next level. All the books are filled with action and the main character Anita is a take no crap from anyone type of women.
Also, one of my favorite series. I think I've recommended it on the Twilight thread. Very R rated in the upper books!!! Here other series is also very good!

- Virgil & Beatrice (the latest Yann Martel...if you've read Life of Pi, it's the same kind of weird dark story)
- The Gargoyle (so so good!! not what I would usually pick up but glad I did)
- Water for Elephants (been sitting on my shelf for ages - who knew a story about a circus in the 30s could be so compelling!)

Just thought I'd pass those recommendations along :)
And the movie is being filmed with Robert Pattison playing the lead and Reese Witherspoon as the female lead!!

We read Water for Elephants in the BDW Book Club!

Virgil & Beatrice -- I found that so utterly depressing. Great writing, but heavy material. Not a beach book!

I have to agree with you here -- I really enjoyed it, it was a fun read, but not at the top of my list. I'd be interested to see the movie for sure.

  • 2 weeks later...

So, I just finished reading Water for Elephants & have to say I really enjoyed it! IDK how to explain it...it was just a really interesting story to me. And I loved how they ended it wrt the old man! But I kind of wished they would have left off the first chapter that tells you a bit about the ending of the book...not sure what that's called! lol

Reading is my addiction lol, but wedding planning is getting in the way!

I liked Twilight and Sookie Stackhouse so I read the Anita Blake series but by about the 12th book she was having sex with every guy who looked at her so I lost interest.

My favourites are  Time Travellers Wife - Audrey Niffenegger, Lisey's Story - Stephen King, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy - Douglas Adams, Outlander - Diana Gabaldon.  And the Hunger Games series is a good one too.  I've just started The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo now that I keep seeing so much about it on tv.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
