Oh No :-( I don't think I love my Dress anymore.....UPDATED with NEW DRESS! #36

Recommended Posts

I know exactly how you feel!!! I am sort of in the same boat - I guess I liked my dress when I ordered it - I thought I'm just not the type of person to go crazy about a dress. So I remember I thought the dress was pretty and seemed good for a DW so I ordered it - I got it in about 2 months ago and wanted to cry when it finally came in and I tried it on. It was a nice dress and all, but I didn't feel bridal at all. So I actually ordered another dress online which was a complete gamble - it took about a month to come in and when I tried it on I actually loved it and sort of wanted to cry b/c I really liked it but now have no idea what to do.

Sort of like you, my aunt bought my dress (she has no children) and even though she didn't come pick it out I sent her a picture of it.. and now I don't know what to do? My new dress is big and poofy and has a decent train so I completely want to wear it on the beach for the ceremony but it might be too much for the reception. If i bought the other one myself, I could wear both - but isn't that pretty rude to my aunt? I could just wear the new one, but I think I will get so hot and it will be sort of hard to dance with it bustled... so now I'm still clueless..

What an awful feeing, Jennifer -- but, like the others have said, you are fortunate to still have some time to work with before June.

Who knows? You may go and try one a dress one day, and it will not only fit like a glove, but you will feel like a bride, too! And if all the stars align, you might even get it on sale! :)

You understandably don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, but you are entitled to be 100% completely, unapologetically "selfish" about your appearance on your wedding day -- period!

All the best of luck in your search, and be sure to post picks of the dress you find of the "Show us your Dress" thread!

Can't wait to see!

~ Christie :)

Thanks ladies and Aww Thanks for the offer Lisa!!!!

Well, I did call Davids and the girl was (Surprising) very nice and helpful. She said I can exchange it for something of equal or greater value and if the new dress costs less, I will have to make it up in accessories. All of that was exactly what I wanted to hear!!

I called both of my MOH's....And they are both very supportive and offered to go back with me. I haven't told my mom yet. I don't think she will be mad or anything, I just feel bad because I know I drov her crazy the first time..LOL I know I am short on time, but I don't think I am gonna go this week because I have a visit from Our favorite Aunt and eww , who wants to try a White dress on with her aroundhuh.gif?

Lisa, I feel the same way you did, getting caught up in everyone's tears and "Oh thats the one's"..And I was also rushing. I'm not super girly and I like to make my decision and move on..But I have envisioned my wedding since I was a kid and Although I realize this isn't a traditional wedding..I wanted something a little bigger...I described it to my sister just now, when she asked what I wanted, i said, "Somethin I have to lift up to walk around..LOL"

My dress is beautiful and light and it will be perfect for Mexico..But who cares if I don't love ithuh.gifhuh.gif

So...If I feel better by Wednesday, I may make an appointment for Thursday night :-) If not, I won't go until Tuesday of next week and who knows, I may decide to keep my dress, although I doubt it.

I need to just try some other dresses.

Thanks for all of the advice and stories! :-)

Here is the dress I currently have:

The dress you brought is very pretty, I would suggest putting everything together first buy a veil. Even if its a wilton one from AC Moore or Micheals. And try it on again. If your still not satified. Begin hunting again. Davids Bridal has many options so you should be able to find exactly what your looking for, and not loose the money you have already put out. I really hopes everything works out so that you will be happy and feel beautiful as you walk down the aisle.

I think your dress looks great! Before you go in, maybe go get your makeup done the way you want it on the wedding, and get your hair done, then go in try on the dress you have now, bring your shoes ask to try on some veils and you may be shocked! Your dress would look great w/ a veil. If you still don't like it then try on some others, but w/ your makeup and hair done you'll get to really see what you will probably look like on THE day

it's very pretty, but if it doesn't give you the "i'm the bride" feeling, it's not the one. i think it would look lovely with a veil, but then what if it's crazy windy that day at dreams, and you end up unable to wear your veil? would you feel like the dress alone was enough? i think i tried that one on too (or at least a million in that style) and i always felt like i was wearing a nightgown. it was almost *too* comfortable, if that makes sense?

if you can exchange it then definitely go try on a bunch of others! and try on veils, hair flowers, heels, tiaras ... anything that might make you feel more like a bride! yay! exciting!

Exactly...Don't get me wrong..I think the dress is beautiful. The detail on the top of it is really pretty. I liked it on me, because it was light and I didn't look like a cow in it..LOL

But I was never dead set on it.

I guess I feel like I wasted alot of peoples time...And now it;s going to be a big rush to get another dress when mine is in my room right now.

Even with a veil, It still isn't the style of dress I have in my head. And Lisa you are def right. I already planned to buy an inexpensive veil because the Gazebo at dreams is really windy most of the time. If I luck out that day and I can actually wear it down the Aisle, I will be shocked. So i figured I won't spend and arm and leg on a really expensive veil in case I can't wear it.

I really appreciate the advice girls, but I think we all know what we want.

My mistake is i settled for this dress because I wanted another thing to cross off my list, instead of going back another day to try on a couple more.

My Consultant is going to think I'm crazy too! She was the best thing about David's Bridal and she was a tremendous help.

When I left with my Dress on Thursday night we were talking and I showed her my shoes and she was so happy it came in early....Now I'll be back! LOL

I gotta tell ya, I am getting really excited again. I am getting a second shot at something i got wrong the first time :-)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
