Hi all -

I am looking at pelican Bay at Lucaya to get marrried in Grand Bahama. Has anyone been there? I am interested in a beach wedding but some of thr pix I have seen there look a little dumpy with the chain link fence in the background. I do like all of the reviews and the price of the hotel seems very good. Any other suggestions in Grand Bahama? Most of our family is in the Maryland and Pennsylavnia area so we are looking for a short flight from there and the Bahamas look like the best option. Suggestions welcome!!

Thanks so much

Amy

a good photographer can make your wedding look like a million bucks - I've been to Pelican Bay, but not photographed a wedding there. The wedding I did was at the Renaissance.

I know there are lots of flight options, some are quite inexpensive, and tons of things to do for guests once they get to the islands, too. Good luck planning!

I am getting married at Old Bahama Bay on Grand Bahama Island.. I am excited about my wedding - but at least so far I wouldn't recommend it. Their wedding planner is really slow and they keep adding on huge fees so I feel like we're being ripped off a lot.

I am also coming for Philly/NY area - there used to be a lot of direct flights to Grand Bahama Island but now there is only 1-2 from Philly, none from NY at least on our date. I think you should think about Nassau - flights are a lot cheaper and there are a lot more direct flights..

Or try to enter the win a free bahama wedding - there's another thread about it or you can find it at the OBB website Old Bahama Bay Luxury Oceanfront Resort in the Bahamas

I wish I could have entered it! Good luck with planning!

I did a beach wedding a couple of weeks ago from a Pelican Bay wedding. I was a little disappointed with the house in the background but it is a beautiful, natural beach and I still got great pics. Im only sorry the wedding is still unfinished because I would love to show it. I just avoided that background and any good photographer will. For the wedding I did, they had the wedding guests come on a ferry which was nice. The coordinator was very professional and the hotel itself was great too.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
