What would your response have been?

We originally planned to get married 8/29/09 but needed to move the date back to next year. The low season in Jamaica begins 4/15 and rates would be better for everyone so I chose 5/1/10. When I told FI he said his parents date is around that time but wasn't sure of the actual date, low and behold that's their date. So we decided if we use that date we need to run it pass them to see how they feel about it. At first I was getting on FI about not helping and decided not to even mention things to him but suprisingly last night he suggestd we go talk to his parents about using the same date. So we did and his father is on joke time 24/7 and didn't give us a straight answer. Since we didn't get a real answer I'm now looking at other dates. Now I myself would not have a problem with somebody having the same date unless I already had big plans for my next anniversy. Next year is thier

45th anniversy and they had a big party for their 40th that FI and his sister threw, not sure what they were planning. I thought it would actually be nice and was hoping to do some kind of tribute to them at our ceremony. My question is what would your response have been or how would you feel about a friend or family member sharing the same date?

I don't see why it would be a big deal. We were thinking of getting married on my parents wedding anniversary. Have they mentioned anything about plans for their 45th? If not, and they didn't openly object to it when you asked then I would say go for it. If you're still worried about it maybe you could have your FH talk to them alone and see if they give him a more straight forward answer...

Thanks ladies, we did think they would feel honored and again his father is a big jokester neenerneener.gif, he has done this to me, so we're just waiting to see if they say anything. I'm not sure if FI discussed anything about us getting married with his father before yesterday, like one on one, but I know he did with his mother cause she asked me about it. He cuts his father's hair every other week so the next time he cuts it I will ask him to discuss it with his father. His mother is a sweetheart and very easy going, that's how she tolerates his dad, LOL, so she probably doesn't mind at all. I will let it go untill the 1st of may because I want to put my website up then, so we'll see thanks agian, gosh I love this forum!!! thewave.gif

I went through the same thing...my fiance and I are getting married on my sister and brother in law's anniversary. I did the same as you and ran it past them and they said they didn't care, that they were honored we chose that date. If his dad is always a jokester I think you are fine. Choose a date that makes you happy!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
