What to wear to NJ Wedding?

Hi Ladies,

I am attending a 2pm formal wedding in NJ next weekend (Sunday April 19th) for my Husbands Niece. They are having a full dinner and everything after... huge Italian wedding.

Anywhoo... I am not a dress kinda girl... so I am thinking a pair of white slacks, white strappy sandaly(I know thats not a word ;0) heels, black dressy shirt with a black blazer. Then I am going to do chunky turquoise and silver jewelry.

Is this appropriate? I know it may be a little early on the white... but everyone is saying you can wear white anytime now. And then to wear white at all... its a wedding... and then to wear black, crap I don't know. What do you think?

Idk about the white pants. I went to a wedding recently where someone was wearing white pants and everyone I knew asked "who's the chick wearing white". It could also have been that she was dancing the whole night which drew attention to her, but I'd hate to have everyone whisper about you! I don't think there's anything wrong with some type of pantsuit though.

A lot depends on where the wedding is being held too. If it's at a VFW Hall or one of the more elegant wedding venues; that would certainly dictate what is appropriate attire. The main thing is - you want to feel comfortable with what you're wearing. NJ Italians tend to get very dressed up for almost any occasion. I'm one and married to a Greek, which is almost the same thing...ha ha...

The outfit sounds really cute, but I don't know about the white pants either just b/c the bride wears white thing. What about a pencil or a line type skirt? Nothing short but just grazing the knee? The only other thing I can think of is to wear black pants wink.gif You can't ever go wrong with black pants/dress top combo!

Yeah I just didn't want to wear all black to it you know... thats why I didn't go with a white jacket and did the white pants instead so I wouldn't take away. I am so confused ;0(

a) what does it say on the invitation? does it say black tie? if so, i'd definitely wear a skirt, regardless of what anyone else is wearing.

B) where is it in nj? that also makes a huge difference.

personally, i'd wear a skirt. i don't like dresses or skirts all that much either, but i wear them for formal occassions.

Hmmmm, that's a toughie. I think white is fine anytime of the year now too, but not sure about for a wedding. You don't want to be the one people are whispering about. If it's a black tie event, I would say the only way you could get away with a pants suit, was if it's super dressy. Black tie = evening wear. But it also depends on how comfortable you will be if you stick out. I married into a big Italian family who tends to go all out (like some of their baptism parties cost more then my wedding!), so I always try to dress to fit in. But I am a dressy type of girl, so that's easy for me. I guess I wasn't much help, was I?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
