Food Diary, Workouts, Why Isn't This Working?

Recommended Posts

Hi! I just wanted to share that Weight Watchers has been very effective for me. I signed up online and track my points everyday, which really puts things into perspective for me. I started on 2/24 and have lost about 12 pounds...and I havent worked out at all. My diet before Weight Watchers was REALLY bad though, so keep that in mind. I didnt realize how bad I was eating until I started tracking my points. Also, I like the idea that I can ONLY eat a certain amount of points per day...so I feel really guilty when I eat more. Maybe if you try to track what your eating a different way you will see what changes you need to make?

Good luck and try to stay positive!

The problem is probably that you are either eating not enough, or to the contrary, too much of things you think are OK.

The best way to go (for me) is Weight watchers. You don't like meetings, just do it online : the food diary will be online, and because you HAVE TO eat your points, you make sure you eat enough ! Also, you can get surprised - like have you any idea how terrible a jumbo smoothie is even if it's only fruits and low fat sorbet ? You would eek.gif

Well, WW helps you to eat RIGHT ! And if this is the problem you have... you should melt. I lost 20 pounds in the first 3 months, then only 5 because I got lazy and stopped writing ddown my food. I t really works. You'll also learn a lot in dietetics...

Don't forget to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day !

you could try eating smaller meals more often. eat like 5-6 times a day so almost every couple of hours. and since you're eating every couple of hours you don't need to eat that much because you're eating again so soon. it ups your metabolism cuz your body is processing food all day long.

also don't eat past 7pm which is next to impossible to do, at least for me. but my PT friend tells me that all the time.

and do cardio first thing in the morning when you wake up, before you eat. then it's burning fat and not the food you just ate. or you can try interval training with your cardio. go from really fast and hard to slower. i have a treadmill so i run as fast as i can without falling off for 2 minutes, then pretty much walk for the next 2 mins, and repeat for however long you want to do cardio

good luck and stay positive

How do you not throw up? I've tried working out without eating breakfast first and I really feel sick and have no energy. Any tips?

That's interesting, my PT also insists that you should never workout on an empty stomach as you could potentially end up vomitting (I've done this mistakenly once and yeah, I totally felt like puking).

my biggest challenge is just finding the time to do it.
I've been getting up at 5 a.m. this week to go work out from 5:30 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. the adjustment has been easier than I thought it was going to be and I love having more free time at night now too. :)

Have you tried shaking up your workout routine? If you keep doing the same thing your body gets used to it and doesn't have to work as hard anymore. Like calchick suggested do some interval training, it shocks your body and metabolism into burning more calories. Or try doing other activities.

Besides working out I know that the diet part tends to be the hardest part. I've always said that I would be perfectly content working out 4hrs a day if it meant that I could eat anything vs. working out less and having to deprive myself of food. Of course 4hrs of exercise is exaggerating but you know what I mean. I've actually found that coffee helps me, I used to snack during the day but now I've replaced it with coffee (alternating with glasses of water so that I don't get too jittery or dehydrated). It's one of the more important things that I've learned from grad school, lol.

i'm a holistic nutritionist so my biggest advice to people is that everyone is biochemically unique. that's why what works for one person may not work for the next.

most likely you are eating the wrong foods for your body, or too many calories a day.

as much as plans like weight watchers, jenny craig, etc. help some, they don't necessarily teach you about proper nutrition.

you need to eat whole grains, fruit, vegetables, beans, legumes, nuts & seeds and some meat/poultry, fish.

the main foods you want to avoid daily are refined flours, sugars, artificial sweetners, saturated fats, caffeine, coffee, concentrated juices, chocolate, alcohol and most dairy products.

drink lots of water...and herbal teas are ok.

Keep at it and don't get discouraged.

I'll agree with some of the girls for sure EAT CLEAN (whole grains, veggies, lean protein, good fats)! I can not tell you how much of a difference it makes. I'll eat clean for a week and drop a few inches just in bloating/water weight.

Its amazing what heavily processed stuff will do to you.

That and TONS of water...keep your system flushed.

Hang in there girl!

We are in confused on which dress to wear for the wedding ceremony. Any suggestion on lesbian wedding dress? I prefer white, whereas my partner prefers of-white. Which one do you think will look good? Should we go for same dress or different one? Share your thoughts.
