I agree...some detailing on dresses cannot be altered a lot. If you have not ordered already, I would check with a seamstress to see how much of an alteration can be done. If you are adamant about losing that weight then you could always order a smaller size (somewhere in the middle of where you are & where you want to be) but I'm always wary of that!

Good Luck with the dress and the weight loss!!

Yes, I've already ordered the dress...when I did, I told her that I was planning on losing about that much and she said that it would be no problem to have it altered and that she didn't feel comfortable ordering it in a smaller size. I guess she's the pro and would know but I wanted to see if anyone else had that same experience and it turned out great?

Here's my dress when it came in:

Disclaimer: gloves are to keep the dress clean ONLY lol...I'm not wearing gloves!

And Thanks Leanne, I'll go check it out!!!

I was at David's Bridal on the weekend and the sales girl told me that she has seen as much as 4 sizes taken in. This is what I am hoping for. I plan on losing alot of weight but not ordering my dress for a few more months, I was going to wait until I dropped all my weight, but of course the dress that I fell in love with is an older style and I am worried that it will not be there in 6 months when I would be ready to buy.

So I think 20lbs you will be fine to have your alterations done.

When I was ordering my dress, the saleslady told me there was a girl who lost 120 lbs - yes One Hundred and Twenty pounds, and they were able to alter her dress. 20 pounds shouldn't be too much of an issue. Good Luck - I want to lose 20 pounds before my dress comes in too!

I have lost 25 pounds in the last few months. I have ordered my dress at the size i was when I ordered it. I did not want to take the chance !! Turns out, I only lost 10 pounds since I ordered it, not so much - but also no pressure on me to lose more !

Your dress looks simple to take in : it will have to be done from the sides. that should really not be an issue, 20 pounds is very reasonnable amount of weight loss for a dress.

wait until the last minute to have your alterations done ! My dress is with the seamstress right now, I only get it back in 10 days, and I'm leaving in only 3 weeks...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
