Is Your Wedding Trip Also Your Honeymoon?

I am having a cruise wedding. The wedding will be on the day of departure in Miami, FL. The cruise is a 7-day Eastern Caribbean cruise and will be our honeymoon, but some of our friends and family will be cruising with us. So, we will probably take an anniversary trip a year later by ourselves.

We are getting married at Sandos Playacar Beach resort and then planning on moving to another resort for our honeymoon. The reason being, is most people I have spoken to say that two weeks at one resort is sometimes a little much. That they got bored of the resort and food. It was almost better doing 10 day vs 14. So we decided to go to another resort as I dont want to have a 10 day stay - I want all 14! lol

If anyone has any ideas of where we should stay for our honeymoon that isnt too expensive I would love to here from you!

We are getting married at Breezes and staying there for 5 nights...two days after our wedding we are leaving and going to Couples San Souci for an addtl 5 nights. I think we get the best of both worlds. We get to spend time with our friends and family and have our own private time. We also get to experience two totally different types of resorts

  • 2 weeks later...

we are staying at beaches turks and caicos for 11 days total. I think that was the best way to go for us! All inclusive luxury for 11 days. Cant beat it. We will be there for 5 days before our wedding, wedding day, and then 5 days after.

Some of our guests will be there the week of our honeymoon but it doesnt really bother us. We will spend alone time and have planned some couple only excursions. But we live across the country from my entire family and all of my friends (and now his friends as well) so I dont mind one bit spending time with them! I wasnt about to tell them when they could and could not vacation. They are traveling a long way to celebrate our wedding with us. :)

We will be staying the whole first week with our family and friends at the resort, and then moving to the adults only section for a week of honeymoon. I tactfully suggested to FI's best man and his girlfriend that if they would like to stay two weeks, to maybe come the week before for their own alone time. They had no problems with that.n Honeymoon saved!

We are staying at the same hotel, however, we'll still be will family. Christmas is the week we are going back home. Believe it or not, when we leave Cabo, we're going in different directions. My FI is headed to LA and to Phoenix to visit his kids for Christmas and I'll be heading back to Texas to spend Christmas with my kids and family. I know it sounds strange, but we're older and have adult kids with grandkids in different states. We do this every year. Then, we will meet back up after Christmas and spend the whole week together.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
