Why are veils so expensive?!?

Recommended Posts

I went veil shopping yesterday and my was I surprised. The first one I loved was $350 - almost as much as my dress. WTF?!?! I managed to escape with a $150 veil with silver/crystal trim that I love. I'm not sure what material veils are made of but they all look like netting to me, unless it is spun out of silk why do they cost so much? Arrgh . . .

Ahhh - eBay!! When I'm done with mine, I can turn around and charge an arm and a leg for it?!

I was about to start the same thread, but I did a search to see if someone already had.

I bought a $10 veil at AC Moore just to take it home & see if I even wanted one. I could tell why it was only $10- there wasn't a big variety in style & it didn't fall right. I don't know how to explain that, but it didn't fall straight down at the ends, it sort of curved up like it was cut funny. Not that you could tell any of this from a distance.

So I was wondering how much you have to pay to get a veil that's nice enough. Also, whats the difference was between $25 veils & ones that cost hundreds. I understand if you have crystals & pearls on it, it will cost more. But I just want a plain one. If it is going to be over $25, I think I'd just prefer to wear only a flower in my hair. I'm sort of in between if I want one or not.

I don't know much about the quality difference in pricing. Target sells veils online now along with their wedding dresses...they are like $15. You'd have to order it to see the quality though.

I don't recommend paying a lot. I did, I loved my veil, but it was on for like 15 minutes. If you want to skip it just flowers would be beautiful. I had a flower tiara made but it was too much with the veil so I gave it to the flower girl. Alone, it would have rocked.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
