Ceremony music: how does "bring-your-own" work?

Recommended Posts

Hi, everyone!

I am looking for insight on how the whole "bring your own" music for the ceremony works at Sandals. While I may end up springing for a live musician, I was wondering about the logistics of bringing my own CD to play for the walk down the aisle, and afterward.

If you marry at one of the gazebos, do they provide some kind of sound system or is it just a little "boombox" off to the side, for lack of a better term?

Any tips/info. would be greatly appreciated!

Hey Christie,

Actually bringing your own music is really easy. When you meet with the WC down JA after you arrive.... in the wedding book, you have a page just for this. You will be able to fill out exactly what you want for where. They also have blank slots if you want to add extra songs for certain things. I just ended up putting down the numbers next to along with the names of the songs as I had made a sleeve for my disk. (this way any thought of messing up wouldnt happen)

Yes the sound system is there as they need it for your guests to hear you and the minster for your vows. Jay was rigged with a mic for both of us.

Hope this helps!

Thanks, Amanda!

That makes me feel so much better that it's not just a little portable CD player or something (perhaps my imagination was getting the better of me that I thought it might be)! I'm glad there are so many brides like you on this site to offer tips and advice on their experiences -- it is more appreciated than you know, believe me!

Smiles and high-fives!

I am bringing my ipod with all my songs and the portable Bose speaker set for ipod. I didn't have a Bose ipod speaker and broke down and bought one on ebay and it is so worth it. The sound is amazing!!! Also it has a rechargable battery that will last three hours on high.

Thanks for the suggestion, mfry --

I think I may cross my fingers and hope that everything works out for the best with the speaker system they provide (since I will already be bringing too much stuff as it is!) If I am recalling the commercials correctly, The BOSE system is amazing (and surprisingly small), so I hope it works out for your big day!

For all you ladies looking into portable systems, I wanted to suggest a cheaper version, the Altec Lansing InMotion iM7 (we just bought one). According to all the reviews my FI and I have looked at, it's actually quite a bit better sounding than the Bose (not that Bose is bad) and it's only $150! It's discontinued because there's a new model out now, but the new model doesn't sound as good because they decided to sacrifice quality for size.

The only downside with the iM7 is that I think it may be a bit heavier than the Bose (not 100% sure). It sounds great though, and I actually even read a review where someone tested it on the beach with no problems or distortion (yay).

Anyways, GL! For me, the hardest part is picking the songs ><

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
