I've emailed the wedding coordinator for package information....hopefully it won't take too long. If anyone already has the info I'd be so greatful if you send it to me. I've emailed a few different resorts and some of them take forever to get back to me....

I read some of the older posts on here and a few of the girls mention dinner at the Seaside Grill. Is this where all bridal dinners take place? Does anyone have pictures?? I'm not interested in paying $85 pp for a private reception. So expensive. The only downfall is most of the 'older' folks in my party won't go to the disco....

Anyways, if anyone has the package info....PLEASE send it my way. cavanaugh_megan@hotmail.com

Thanks!!

Hi!

Thanks so much for the review!
Unfortunately, I'm having troubles opening your pictures. Darn! I'd love to see them! There doesn't seem to be many brides that have been married at the GBP Bavaro/Punta Cana, so any info is much welcomed!!

I am also looking into the GBP for our wedding in May 2010...I didn't realize it was so much per person for the reception though. I think that would add up the $$ very quickly. It is a gorgeous looking resort, but it seems steep to have to pay so much per head, when they have already paid for the week. I am so new to all of this though, so I don't know...is that normal for most resorts in DR?

There is a new wedding co-ordinator at the GBP Punta cana/ Bavaro now (Cinthya) and she is wonderful! She responds so quickly to my e-mails!

Apparently the wedding packages have been all updated, for for the better! She sent me out all the information, including all of the resort SPA brochures, photgraphy, etc.

The great thing is now we can afford to do the private reception!!! YAY!! The Sunshine apckage was $1500 USD for 10 people and $85 USD each additonal person. Now, that same package is $1350 USD for 24 people and $35 USD each additonal. Then, if you want a private reception at one of the restaurants (less than 50 people) it is $750 USD. The reception goes from 6:30pm to 10:30pm, has a set menu, wait staff, etc. If you want to have speakers and microphone it's $150 USD extra. If you want a DJ, lights, etc. it's $400 USD.

We have chosen the Garden Grill Terrace (Steak house) as the menu looks pretty "Canadian" (We have 40 Canadians who are used to chicken, steak, potatoes, etc) kindda picky:) I really wanted the private reception as I wanted to have the opportunity for all our guests to be together without the other hotel guests around. Plus, we want to do the first dance, a few small speeches, etc. and I felt that would be super weird with other guests listening in.

Gosh knows we would have some drunk guest crashing our party!

Get in touch with Cinthya for more info. She is wonderful. I only pray that she is the wedding co-ordinator by the time our wedding rolls around in November. I have already dealt with 3 in the past 6 months and she is by far the best/most accomodating. Plus, she seems to speak the best english which is imperative when I am trying to explain what I want/expect.

We have our wedding in April 2010 at the Gran Bahia Principe Bavaro. If we choose the private reception do you know if they will change the liquor prices are per some of the informaton that has been sent to us as part of the wedding packages. Also, are you allowed to have music at the Garden Grill for dancing.

Do you know if there is a spot for dancing. What are you planning

Robinkar,

As far as I can tell the liquor is included in the private recption until 10:30pm. After that, if you wnat to have an open bar you have to pay a per person supplement.

There is a sound system available to rent for $400USD or you can rent a DJ service to play the music. We have rented just the sound equipment, microphone for $400 USD and we will bring our IPOD with us and use pre-made playlists for the evening.

The wedding coordinator assures me there is plenty of room to dance at the Garden Grille terrace. Let's hope!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
