Any non topless resorts?

Recommended Posts

One of my friends just got engaged and she and her FI are starting to plan a wedding in DR. She knows her mother will be freak about topless sunbathers. She is wondering if there are any all inclusives in DR (not sure where she is looking specificly)that ban toppless sunbathing. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi! I'm not sure about resorts banning topless sunbathing, but I did stay at Sunscape the Beach last month. It was a great resort! I only saw 2 topless sunbathers the entire time I was there. Most of the guests were American, and I don't think many Americans will sunbathe topless...but I could be totally wrong. Hope that helps a little!

I'm not sure about the DR, but it seems that a lot of the AIs in Mexico ban topless sunbathing by the pool. What Cassondra said is true, most americans don't sunbathe topless (unless they're in South Beach) so if you look for a resort that caters mostly to Americans as opposed to Europeans, you're less likely to run into it. And if your friend's mother does see some topless sunbathing, what's the worst that can happen? Shouldn't she be happy that her daughter is getting married as opposed to gawking at body parts she's already seen before?

Ya, I agree with your non-generalization. I know that Europeans just tend to be more casual about these things. They don't mean to offend anyone, but sometimes it can be shocking! lol. I've never seen entire swimsuits before though. We're just not use to it over here!

I think your friend should look at this wedding as a cultural experience for her mother. I mean, c'mon - what's the big deal? She doesn't have to look? And, it's not a sexualized thing, it's just a Euro thing. But if she absolutely can't deal with it then the DR may not be for her...

Hi ladies!!

Sunbathing topless is illegal in Dominican Republic and there are warning signs at all pools & beaches... That said, once in a while, especially if the resort is popular with Europeans, you'll spot some topless ladies. They have their own privacy and you have yours. We've been photographing weddings in Punta Cana for the last 2 years and have never seen any topless sunbathing activity affecting weddings :)

The only topless pool is Eden at Hard Rock Punta Cana resort... Just in case any of you are looking forward to letting your ta-ta's enjoy some sun.

1000

Cheers!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
