Is anyone else getting married on blind faith?

Recommended Posts

Yes I am!! We have never been to Mexico but have always wanted to go but I think a lot of people do it like this. I did a lot of research and a lot of TripAdvisoring before choosing a resort and I think I made a good choice since I've heard nothing but good things about SMB and just can't wait!!

I definitely am I saw pictures of St. Lucia and fell in love so I checked TripAdvisor (and continue to) compulsively and went from there. My fiance and I aren't very picky...hs family on the other hand may have higher standards. We're expecting for the worst but hoping for the best :)

Another blind faith bride here! I've been to Jamaica before, but it was over 15 years ago and not the same city and FI has never been to Jamaica. Some of the other locations I looked at were too expensive and most of our guests have already been to Mexico (the other location I was interested in), so I was hoping to mix it up a bit and try somewhere new. I spent A LOT of time on tripadvisor before making the final decision though, a site visit just wasn't in our budget because of our timeline and considering that having a DW was supposed to save us money!

We stopped in Montego Bay for 1 day on a cruise and that was it!!! The food & people were so amazing it blew us away! I wanted a chilled out, relaxed wedding...I can't think of anywhere better! Also while we were in Montego Bay, all the locals told us if we were to return we should go to Negril...Sandals Negril it is!!

Another blind faith bride here! I have been to the Riviera Maya multiple times, but never this resort or Puerto Morelos itself. My fiance and his family have never been to Mexico at all. We based our choice of resorts off of many great reviews on BDW and tripadvisor. We also saw people's slideshows online of their weddings at the resort.

Yes and no. I have been to Tulum before to scope out sites, but I have never been to the place where we are getting married! I'm basing it on a recommendation from a local, reviews about the food, and a lot of hope and faith! I hope it works out!

Neither Dave or I have been to St. Thomas, but he looked into going for a vacation years ago and always wanted to go there.

I suppose if he hadn't had an opinion on where we should get married, we would have gotten married in Acapulco, which 2 of my bridesmaids and I have been to.

Very much so! We picked our resort before it was even built, so we hadnt even seen pictures. That being said I have been to two weddings at different dreams resorts so we knew what we were getting with the hotel chain, and then secondly we knew we wanted to get married in Huatulco b/c its so uncommon and none of our guests had been there before. WE have only heard extremely positive things about that area of mexico so are so excited!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
