Recommended Posts

neither of us has ever been to dreams, to cancun, or to any all-inclusive resort. i've never been to mexico at all, but tom had a cruise stop in cozumel once ... so i'd say we're going in pretty blind!

neither of us has been married before either, and we're jumping headfirst into that, so why not the wedding too? LOL

We went on blind faith as well and a lot of help from our TA. While we had been to the Caribbean, neither of us have ever been to Jamaica. But, we wanted to choose a relatively less expensive option for our guests. Our favorite places and preferences would have been Aruba or St John, but both of these can be quite a bit more money than Jamaica. So, we went on blind faith for not only the island but the resort. Since we own a timeshare, my FI has never been to an AI and I haven't been to one since I was 18 (nearly 18 years ago) with my mother in Cancun. But, between this site and our site visit we are happy with our choice.

We had never been to our resort either! I found it on the internet, and then contacted them and got lucky enough to find BDW! And the rest was history! The resort totally surpassed my wildest dreams, and I loved it! I totally try to talk my unmarried friends into having a DW b/c IMO it is the BEST wedding background and atmosphere! Who wouldn't want to get married in paradise!

FI and I went to Playa Car a few years ago, but stayed at another resort. We chose this site from a Destination Wedding TA. We chose it because of the price and how nice it looked. Can't wait to see if we chose wisely. :)

Thanks!!! You all made me feel a lot better about my decision... At first I thought the reason people chose DW's because they'd been to that place before and/or it had a special meaning for them,or worse I thought I was the only person who'd never been to Jamaica... I've been doing a lot of research and it looks like we'll be at one of the Couples resorts....I know the memories we'll make in Jamaica will be extra special!

I think that the surprose is the best part. I'm choosing NOT to go somewhere (island, town, or resort) that I have ever been to, so I'll have that "seeing Disney World for the first time as a kid" feeling. As long as your with your honey and do a little research on great forums like these....how could you go wronghuh.gif CONGRATS!!

i think it's pretty common to choose a place site unseen. however, if you are working with a lot of vendors and going off the resort for most of your important items, i think it makes a lot more sense to do a visit. otherwise, i wouldn't spend the money as there are quite a lot of resources for you.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
