Leigh,

Hands down, your photos of this venue are amazing!

I am only posting this because I want brides to have awareness that the beauty of the RM can be seen in an WHOLE different light if you stay at a different resort.

Yes, you could visit this el dorado a handful of times and never see it the same way a photographer would see it... Key point (leigh is no ordinary photographer).. Great great shots!

Unfortunately, I dislike El Dorado. The sandbag beach whale things just make this place stink for my taste... If you are traveling to the Riviera Maya, i believe you should see a natural undisturbed beach habitat. This is becoming harder and harder to find these days... one thing I can guarantee, El Dorado is DISTURBED.

In regards to the "hotel photographer"

I think it is pretty safe to say that the worldwide stereotype about resort photographers is mostly true. When you stay at a AI resort and contract their local photog staff to shoot your wedding, you are gambling at having an assistant of the assistant of the assistant showing up. He / She will have an amateur camera with little or 0% backup equipment. The package you get will have 30-100 pictures and one can guarantee that the hotel / coordinators have a cut of their package... There is NO quality guarantee. IMHO, a wedding is NO place to take risks like this.

In regards to your associate getting sick...

First, i'm so sorry this happened. I only hope he / she is better now. I had a bug on my first trip and it turned into a 1 year problem for me.

I will tell you that bacteria is a strange thing and it is odd to see local people NOT get sick while you get blown away (literally out of multiple ends) by eating / drinking whatever... After being engaged to a "local", I have figured out that they are seasoned veterans to the harmful bacteria that exists. Seriously, locals have this amazing ability to have adapted to the bugs. I can say that after my 30+ trips there in the last year, I have too grown more immune to the bacteria. (I'm ADAPTING) :) I am still careful and paranoid, but feel MUCH better after having been exposed. Mexico can do some serious damage to your insides... wow.

Well, again, I'm wanted to say great shots again, leigh...the venue pics are super!

Cheers,

matt

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
