wedding dress dilemna!

Recommended Posts

Well, I found a dressmaker about 20 minutes away from me. I was really excited to find her and she sounded great on the phone, but I'm kind of frustrated with how long its taking her to get some ideas together for me!!

She told me she can't copy the dress exactly, so I said can we just modify it slightly, she said yes, and she also said we could just design something from scratch. Well she was supposed to send me something the next day, it was several days before I got anything, then she was supposed to send me more options on sunday, didn't get anything yet. I sent her an email today just saying that I really wanted to get this figured out.

She has a website with dresses she makes, and they're beautiful, they're are actually several on there that I really like.

So, right now I'm just waiting to hear back from her. She told me it only takes her a few weeks of full time work to make a dress, so maybe she doesn't see the urgency, but I really want to get rolling on this!!!!

I'm hoping she gets back to me tonight! ArghhhH!

No, I only got one initial sketch and it was just a basic outline for me to add to. But she never got the other attachments to work.

I spoke to her today and we discussed the dress I want. She said for her to make the dress she has to change it at least 20% and for the dress I want, for her to change it that much will be changing a lot and she doesn't know if I'll be happy with it after the changes. She said that she thinks if this is the dress I know I really want, I should just buy it. Funny, thats the same advice I got here, lol!!

Anyway, so I was searching through the maggie sottero site and found my dress, with a slight change. The dress I wanted was a limited and the bottom of the dress was a lacy material. The dress that is part of their regular collection just has a strip of lace and the material on the bottom of the dress is the same as the top. The rest of the dress is almost identical and its half the price of the limited!

I made an appointment to go to the bridal salon tomorrow to try it on and if I like it as much as the limited then I'm going to order it tomorrow, assuming they can get it in time, she said she will have to call when I come in to find out what the delivery time will be. I'm not promising pictures of me in it, I have a horrible sunburn from yesterday (when I say horrible I was wearing a v-neck t-shirt) so I'm going to look ridiculous when I go in there! But here's a pic of the two together so you can see the similiarities.

This is the one I will get:

I know!! I was counting out how many weeks I have to see if I still had enough time to order! So I am keeping my fingers crossed that I will love this "almost the same" dress as much as I loved the other one! Otherwise, I don't know what I'm going to do! I don't know if I can start looking again!

I would love to do a TTD, but I don't know if FI will go for it. I can't even show him sarah's because I can't download the program on my computer, so I haven't even been able to see them yet!

I'll probably just sell the other one on ebay, I didn't pay too much for it.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
