*** Alert! Possible fraud... just had to cancel Debit Card..

Ok, so that April Fool's "worm" email you've been seeing go around may in fact be true!

I found what looks to be a $4,500 fraudulent charge on my Debit Card today from "PAYPAL". It looks nothing like my other paypal transactions, and nothing of this magnitude is showing up on my actual paypal account. It just had a phone number to the side and listed as coming from CA. Martin Googled the number and said it came up with all these fraud alerts.

Tried calling Chase (my bank) but could not get through. Have a friend from high school who is a banker at our location, so ran up there totally freaking out on her (lol). She said their systems are down and acting really suspicious/weird. She says she's never seen anything like it, and that their security systems are supposedly right up there with the Pentagon's. FYI - we still do have one other thing to check out and make sure it's not that but went ahead and canceled the card anyways to make sure. (Paying a lot of stuff for the wedding right now, only thing left is the HM but they're based out of MI so don't think it's for that... if it is I'll feel a little silly! blush2.gif)

SO - watch your bank accounts closely the next day or so!!! (well always watch them, but you know! cheesy.gif)

My friend says these hackers usually attack when the economy is down.

I am not one to get caught up in all this hoopla normally, but since I found the possible $4,500 fraud charge on my account today I wanted to pass it along!! They are hoping that other customers aren't having the same issues... Please post here if you do!

I heard about this stuff going around, I guess around here people are getting a text message saying "your card has been deactivated please call this number" then they ask you for your cc# and stuff...........so thanks for the heads up jaime!

FYI, the $4,500 did turn out to be a valid charge... was from our TA from the HM. Miscommunication... gonna go deal with the bank tomorrow...

Phew, that sure did wake me up though! We went out and bought some awesome security software - "Kaspersky". Supposed to be better than Norton and McAfee.

Would still keep a look out on your accounts tomorrow though!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
