Is anyone planning to get married here...or has anyone looked into this? I'm considering this is a possible location, but haven't read much on here about it on here...I also haven't seen anyone else with this as their location.

They were actually the first venue to respond to me and provide me with their wedding package information. Everything looked great but I read some reviews on tripadvisor.com and wasn't too thrilled. But I do hear a lot of positive things about the Riu in other countries.

I was initially thinking Riu Palace Riviera Maya but since our families are hesitant about going to Mexico we're trying to find an alternate location. My fiance went on vacation to Aruba last year and saw the Riu- he said it's AMAAAAZING. He promises I'd be far from disappointed! I think I'm going to look more into it and reconsider this as our location! Are there any BDW brides who got married at Riu Aruba or know anyone else who's been there??

Yes, the RIU was having some issues, If heard since that they've cleaned up their act and has taken measures so they should be fine.

Hey Ladies! I'm actually getting married in Aruba in January 2010 and staying at the Riu Palace. It's AMAZING!!! My fiance and I went to check it out this past January. The resort is great and the food is awesome. I'm big on food and I had one of the best steaks ever there and one of the best desserts. Our guests are staying there for the week. Now in terms of getting married there, we wanted something intimate and personal. We didn't want to get married ON the beach and wanted a restaurant to ourselves. The only thing the Riu could offer is the ballroom. We were ok with that until we checked out The Link golfcourse with a wedding planner that associated with the Divi/Tamarijn and it was EXACTLY what we were looking for. The clubhouse restaurant is great and has a view of the ocean. The ceremony will be by the pond of the golf course and then golf carts will take us across the street to the beach for photographs and back to the restaurant for the reception. The restaurant will be exclusively ours and anything we want can be done. It's so great! And our wedding planner is super nice, quick to respond via email and has great ideas. Let me know if you need any more information. I have a ton of photographs of the Riu and The Links. We also went to check out the Holiday Inn, Divi and Tamarijn. We want an all-inclusive and these are the only all inclusive places. Out of these four, the Riu is by far the nicest place! Let me know if you have any questions about Aruba.

Thanks for everyone's responses! It does sounds beautiful...I still have my heart set on RPRM, but it's good to hear that Riu Palace Aruba may be just as beautiful...possibly a backup! Like KimmyG I considered switching locations due to everything going on in Mexico.

I looked into getting married at the RIU in Aruba. We chose not too book it there because you had to have 10 rooms guaranteed to have your wedding there. I couldn't guarantee that. We are getting married 11/2009. We chose the Marriott Resort Aruba and Stellaris Casino. I've heard so many good things about. Go to tripadvisor and read what they have to say about the RIU. Just take everything with a grain of salt.... I think there are people who just like to complain. I swear by that website though. I have not been let down by using tripadvisor to help me find hotels. Good luck and congratulations!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
